A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/now-you-see-me/

Ok, now I’m just making things up.  As if I need an excuse to post my most recent kitty pictures…

Colour Your World: Blue Bell

Today’s Colour Your World is Blue Bell (http://jennifernicholewells.com/2016/01/12/color-your-world-blue-bell/)

Well, I probably posted some “blue bell” pictures yesterday.  If I were to describe this colour, I would probably say “blue with a little purple in it?”  Yes, with the question mark at the end.  I think it’s kind of the colour of the bottom half of our upstairs hallway (see the last picture).  Anyway, I will do my best!

A walk up high

A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/if-i-could-turn-back-time/

So, yesterday for the first time this year, and the first time in a while, I walked up Mt. Tolmie.  I felt it, but it felt good.  Especially the coming down part.  It also didn’t rain while I was out – it waited until just after I go back.  Boo yah!

This is the view from up on high (taking photos is a great excuse for catching one’s breath!)

Our January Garden

A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/teen-age-idol/

After my run in the late afternoon sun yesterday, I thought I should tour our backyard.  I haven’t done that in awhile, and I knew that I needed to check to see what needed to be done in the next couple of weeks. Here’s how thing are looking right now:

Running for Bacon: Training Day 10

I’m playing a bit of catch up here.  I caught up with my running, and now am going to catch up with my running posts!

This last week I was back in the swing of the Couch 2 5K training.  I think I am now half-way through this “getting back to running” training.  After that, I will get on with a 10K program so I can run a race at the end of April, and then it’s on to marathon training.

But, for this last week I started on Monday.  Bear in mind, I was back to work on Monday, so I ran after work, in the dark.  Luckily, while it was chilly and a bit damp, it was NOT raining.   The intervals for session 10 were:  run 3 walk 2, run 4 walk 3, run 4 walk 3, run 3 walk 2.  Getting closer and closer to running with no walking breaks.  I should note that this run felt great!  In fact, all my runs this week felt great.  Maybe running later in the day, dark or not, is a good thing!

And, without further ado, this is what I saw along the way!

A little Sunday randomness

A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/modern-families/

Yesterday I spent some time at Kevin’s clinic while he worked out some technical issues with his computer guy, and then we did a little setup for his second exam room (hanging a mirror and a computer.)  In case you don’t know, Kevin is an optometrist – a very busy one, and his Victoria clinic is soon opening a second exam room.  Very exciting.  Anyway, I sat there for quite some time while he worked on the computer, and I wandered around the room taking pictures of random things for random challenges, or just as they struck my random thoughts.

Cooking with Bacon: Week 1

And now for my new challenge:  working my way through Bacon Recipes in 2016!

dec312015h dec312015g

Guess it’s not exactly Julia Child, but it could be fun.  You may hear (read) some swearing along the way.  Some of these recipes will push me into directions I don’t normally stray when I cook (although I am looking forward to wrapping many different things in bacon), and many of them will need to be adapted for a gluten-avoiding person such as myself.  But, it sounded like a fun idea when Kirsten and Maynard gave me this little cookbook all about my signature ingredient, so…Challenge Accepted!

And for the first recipe, we have

Twice Baked Potatoes!

dec312015t

I argued with this recipe for a minute.  It only has bacon as “optional”, but this is a Bacon Recipes book.  What’s this waffling all about?  But then I settled down and got to cooking.

Baked potatoes, evaporated milk (I used cream), cheese and butter, along with the chives and bacon.

Scoop out the potatoes and mash everything together – then refill the potatoes

Now, to figure out what I will make this week!
