Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Store Front Signs
For this week’s Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Store Front Signs (https://ceenphotography.com/2016/06/30/cees-black-white-photo-challenge-store-front-signs/)
“This week’s Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge (CB&W) topic is Store Front Signs. You can show off any store or business front you want. The more names and signs the better. ”
A few business signs in my ‘hood, as seen during my walk today.
Running for Bacon: Back on Track?? Day 2
So, am I really back on track? All I know if I went out for another 4+1 day yesterday, and then took a VERY long walk back. Here are some highlights.
A nice place for a picnic.
They have freshened up all their “no X’ing” signs on the sidewalk – let’s hope it helps people NOT bike, skate or skateboard (it didn’t yesterday…it also doesn’t help people GET OVER when others are walking on the sidewalk towards you. You know, you don’t HAVE to keep walking 2, 3, or 4 abreast. GET OVER!!!) Ok, I’m done now…
No smoking in BC parks any more!
The path down to Clover Point
I wanted to walk longer because I wanted to run along the sea wall. Haven’t done that in a long time!
Stairs up to the street. I did NOT take them!
Once I did get up to the street, I took a couple of shots of the seawall from above
Good wind action yesterday
And finally, everyone has to have their pictures taken next to the Mile Zero marker. I mean, EVERYONE!! There is usually a huge crowd there at this time of year. Guess there is something for everyone…
Tomorrow is a holiday, but I am going to try my best to get out and run anyway. Wish me luck!
A Kitten Thursday for Wendy
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/clouds/
My friend and work colleague Wendy may not read this post today, but I wanted to send her warm kitten hugs. I’m thinking about you!!
Macro Moments Challenge: Week 2
Week 2 of Macro Moments from Musin’ with Susan (https://musinwithsusan.com). (https://musinwithsusan.com/2016/06/29/macro-moments-week-2/). Just to remind you (and me), here’s how the challenge works:
- Choose a favorite macro photo from the past week or from your archives.
- Add the photo to your post and a brief description. I would love to know, as I am sure others would, too, what camera and lens you used and your settings.
This is a close-up of a Lamb’s Ear in our garden starting to bloom.
Taken with my iPhone 6, with the Camera+ app, 1/125 sec; f/2.2; ISO 32, no editing or cropping.
A Tuesday walk
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/tourist/
I am glad I avoid Daily Prompts as I prefer to avoid talking about tourists at all costs. This is The Season here in Victoria, and they are everywhere!! Riding horse-drawn carriages in front of my car, walking aimlessly against the lights in front of my car, stopping in the middle of the street to take pictures in front of my car.
So, no. I will instead continue my avoidance and post pictures of my walk from yesterday.
The path down to the ocean I took yesterday
Random ship in distance
Random pear along the way – who knew there were pears in the park?
Random place to sit along the path (not facing the ocean…wtf??)
Heading up Beacon Hill
The view back down Beacon Hill
The structure at the top of Beacon Hill
Those pesky tourists’ cruise ship as seen from Beacon Hill
Random large rock heading down from Beacon Hill
That is all!!
Views from the garden
Thought I would do a separate post as an update on how the old garden is looking this end-of-June.
General views from the ground
Potatoes!!
Beans (I built a trellis today – it’s pretty weird looking, but does the trick! I’ll post a picture tomorrow) In the background are my zucchini and squashes
Beets, and hopefully carrots
Kale and chard
Butter lettuce and arugula
Random close-ups of things in the old garden. It’s a jungle out there!
Running for Bacon – back on track??
Why, oh why, has it been so hard to get back on track with my running? I have tried on and off for months now to start again, but it seems all I do is start. So, here’s me starting again. With a new program starting me slow (more a walk/run) and let’s see if I can get somewhere this time.
So, yesterday I did a 4 minute walk/1 minute run for 6 intervals, traveling down towards Clover Point and then turning around back home. Here are some pictures I took during my walking moments. I don’t know how I will take pictures if I ever cut out the walking breaks…
With views like this, who would ever NOT go out running??
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Walks – Indoor or Outdoor
For this week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Walks – Indoor or Outdoor (https://ceenphotography.com/2016/06/28/cees-fun-foto-challenge-walks-indoor-or-outdoor/)
“For outdoors you have have paths or trails and consist of dirt, cement, gravel as long as the outdoor walk is a designated for walking only. Indoor walking areas can be hallways, aisles in stores. Make sure all your walking areas are designated for walking, you can’t just show a big ballroom, park or beach. Just have fun with this challenge. Use your imagination if you want for this theme.”
I’ve been taking a lot of walks while I’m on vacation, and am going to try to keep taking daily walks when I’m back at work next week (that’s a good use of lunch hours, right??) Here are some highlights from my walks over the past couple of weeks.
Last week of vacation (until I take another one in August!)
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/water/
Yesterday was almost back to normal – for holidays, that is. I did go out for a bit with dad. We went for a walk along the WestBay Walkway, and then had a bit of lunch at Spinnaker’s Pub. It was a gorgeous day! And a good lunch too…
Here are some of the things we saw along the walkway.
I don’t know what this is, but it’s been there for years!
A nice spot for a picnic
An airport that has to watch out for ferries and other assorted boats!
This guy was having a good time hunting along the shore
And then, lunch!
Mmmmm….lemonade…
Dad’s seafood chowder
And my house-made paneer
This is what I found when I got home!
I did go out again later in the day, but I will save that for another post!
