Monthly Archives: January 2016
I guess it’s really 2016 now

January 9th – almost 2 digits, almost half-way through January. It’s funny how we count down our days, weeks, and months the way we do. We complain when the weekdays go so “slow”, and complain with the weekends go so “fast”. Is it because we are never happy about the way things are, or because we’re only happy when we’re complaining?
Oh well. It’s Saturday, and I am going to enjoy it!
And so are these guys…
Weekly Photo Challenge: Weight(less)
I going to try and do the Weekly Photo Challenge on a more regular basis now. Meaning I’m going to try and remember to post to it instead of just thinking about it every week. So, here goes nothing!
This week we are supposed to explore the effects of gravity (or the lack thereof) (https://dailypost.wordpress.com/photo-challenges/weightless/)
Colour Your World: Beaver
Today’s Colour Your World is Beaver (http://jennifernicholewells.com/2016/01/08/color-your-world-beaver/)
Beaver, eh?? A Canadian colour! Here we go…
Made it!
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/keeping-up-with-the-jones/
Yes! Made it to the first Friday of the first week back at work after The Holidays. It officially feels like I never left work. But not necessarily in a bad way. It was a busy week (and today will be busy as well), but it actually felt good getting plunged back into the swing of things.
I am behind on posting my training updates, but I’ll try to catch up tonight. I have been making my runs all week (tonight will be the final one for the week). I am also aware that I promise you a “cooking with bacon” post for this week. It also will be coming soon!
In the meantime, here’s kitties!
Colour Your World: Banana Mania
Today’s Colour Your World is Banana Mania (http://jennifernicholewells.com/2016/01/07/color-your-world-banana-mania/)
Try saying that three times fast! Especially after a glass or two of wine…
This is a funny colour. Sounds like yellow, looks a little like a light peach, or at least it does to me. But what do I know? Here are pictures representing what I think Banana Mania is…
There should be a song about Thursday
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/sink-or-swim/
I don’t know why I think there should be a song about Thursday (and maybe there is – there is a song out there about almost everything else, I think), but I do. It’s past the halfway mark, and almost Friday. The light at the end of the tunnel is there before us! Of course, if your Thursday and Friday are more jam-packed than the rest of your week, it might be more of a “aren’t we there yet” song (I’m trying not to think about it). I guess it really is all about perspective.
Colour Your World: Atomic Tangerine
Today’s Colour Your World is Atomic Tangerine (http://jennifernicholewells.com/2016/01/06/color-your-world-atomic-tangerine/)
Wow – Atomic Tangerine! Who knew? I love it!
Here are the pictures that match what I see as Atomic Tangerine 🙂
Ok. the first one may not technically be “Atomic” tangerine, but the colour swatch did remind me of the colour our house USED to be, and I would rather call it “atomic tangerine” than salmon (I should also mention that I am really happy it’s NOT that colour any more…not that’s there anything wrong with atomic tangerine, just maybe not this shade on an entire house…)
Halfway through

So, yesterday was a good day. A cold and damp day, a tiring day, but good. Workshops were run, tasks accomplished, dinner made, and all that stuff.
Oh, and taking pictures of kitties. Can’t forget that!
Colour Your World: Asparagus
Today’s Colour Your World is Asparagus (http://jennifernicholewells.com/2016/01/05/color-your-world-asparagus/)
I always laugh when someone talks about how women know so many different kinds of colours than men. Well, I guess if there’s one thing this challenge is helping me with, besides finding photos I forgot about and taking new photos, is adding new colour terms to my vocabulary. I mean, I would have just called this green!
So, without further ado, here are my contributions to Asparagus.
It’s almost like there was never a break…
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/unpopular/
I don’t have much to say this morning. I’m too tired. Today will be the second day back at work after the Holiday Break, and in some ways it already feels like there was no break. It will definitely feel that way after today because I am in wall-to-wall sessions. But it’s all good. As long as there are days when I am not in wall-to-wall sessions to catch my breath. Unfortunately, there isn’t another one of those until next week…sigh…
Oh, and I still don’t have a desk…just saying…
I did manage to get out for a walk yesterday at work – here are a few sights. Only a few. It was rainy and cold and January, so not a lot to see…
Our version of icy roads…
Hellebores, already??
The sidewalk heading back to work…
