What’s that, eh?

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/twenty-five/

There are 26 letters in the English language, and we need every single one of them. Want proof? Choose a letter and write a blog post without using it. (Feeling really brave? Make it a vowel!)

It’s too early in the morning for that.  I even started this post by doing the opposite and USING a letter to frame the post.  It’s Friday, right?  Well, I could choose the letter “eh?” and then show you some pictures of Canada in March, eh?  Crap, I used it…Well, there you go.  Anyway, these are things I saw on my walk yesterday, and a few things going on in the backyard.

And finally, our backyard – two clematis vines in full on explosion (they are growing up dead cherry trees – we still have some living cherry trees that bloom later than others in town – you will be seeing them when they do!), and some tulips poking their way up

No place like home…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/study-abroad/

If you were asked to spend a year living in a different location, where would you choose and why?

Why on earth would I want to be anywhere else, especially at this time of year?  And, if I were to go somewhere else for a year, it sure wouldn’t be to study (at least, not in the formal sense).

I can’t get enough of spring out here.  And I can hardly wait to see what I see today!

Cees Fun Foto Challenge : Catching people unaware

I NEVER take pictures of people, except by accident.  Except this one time (although, in all honesty it was the horse I was going for).  But I thought it would be perfect for Cees Fun Foto Challenge : Catching people unaware.

Thanks for the feature Cee!  What a great honour!!

I’ll fix it later.

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/set-it-to-rights/

Think of a time you let something slide, only for it to eat away at you later. Tell us how you’d fix it today.

It would be shorted for me to tell you about a time I didn’t let something slide.  Procrastination is my middle name!!

In fact, it’s even easier for me to show you what I saw on my walk yesterday.  And just to be transparent, I was walking through some close-by neighbourhoods, and by a golf course.  No rural or top-of-the-mountain adventure for me today!  Not sure I will get a walk in today – it’s supposed to be rainy (I don’t like getting soaked on a walk while I’m at work).  But, we’ll see!

Michelle’s Weekly Pet Share: Week (79)

I’m taking a break from kitties today, but only because this guy was so weird looking.  I think he’s an alpaca, but perhaps someone else knows for sure???  I’m pretty sure he really wanted me to have some food for him – he saw me, turned towards me, and walked right up to my face for a picture.

There are no guarantees…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/too-big-to-fail/

Tell us about something you would attempt if you were guaranteed not to fail (and tell us why you haven’t tried it yet).

Come on.  Nothing is guaranteed not to fail, and I would definitely NOT try something if someone told me it could not fail.  As to why I wouldn’t (or haven’t) tried something some random person said couldn’t fail, well it’s because if anyone could make it fail, that would be me.  But what is failing anyway, and why is it always bad to “fail”?  Didn’t I read somewhere once that it’s all the failures that make us succeed?  And something about trying things anyway even though you’re sure they will fail?  You know, lessons learned, and all that crap…

Sorry, this is getting way too philosophical for this early in the morning with only 1/2 a cup of coffee in me so far.  Let’s have a look at what I saw on my walk yesterday…

This critter – is it an alpaca?  I have no idea…  He saw me and started walking towards me and really wanted to bite me, well, that was my thought.  But he was kind enough to let me take pics instead of taking a chunk out of my hand.

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/id-like-to-thank-my-cats/

You are receiving an award –- either one that already exists, or a new one created just for you. What would the award be, why are you being honored, and what would you say in your acceptance speech?

What?  The award for posting something other than the Daily Prompt in the guise of posting the Daily Prompt.

Why?  See this and past posts.

What would I “say”?

Life has taught me well…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/we-can-be-taught-2/

What makes a teacher great?

Well, that’s a pretty big question.  For a Sunday.  For International Women’s Day.  Not to mention Daylight Savings Time day, so I’ve lost an hour and feel like I’m late.  Oh, so late…Not sure for what, but I really feel that lost hour!  Well, anyway the greatest teachers lets you explore topics in your own way.  So, here we go…

So, I didn’t go for a walk yesterday (I did laundry, cleaned the house – which was in desperate need of cleaning – went to a concert with mom and dad, and then ate a late dinner with Kevin).  But here are a few pics from past days anyway.

First, here are some of the spoils from my Veg Box I got from our local corner grocery store (Niagara Grocery:  http://getfreshwithalocal.com/).  It’s been here for longer than our house I think – well over 100 years, and they sell incredible local produce, local meat products, and roast their own coffee beans.  The Veg Boxes is a program where, weekly, I pick up a box that they have filled with all locally grown and mostly organic produce – different items each week!  Very yummy.

And just because, here are some of the same pics I posted yesterday, but after I had some fun with them in Photoshop Elements!  I kind of like the antique look…

I’m too sexy for my Daily Post…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/i-have-confidence-in-me/

Are you good at what you do? What would you like to be better at?

I would like to be better at following the Daily Prompt.

Oh, who am I kidding.  No I wouldn’t!

Now, here is what I saw on my walk yesterday up Mt. Tolmie!  You can find out more about Mt. Tomie here:  http://victoriahiatus.com/victoriahikes/mount-tolmie.html or do your own Google search!.  There are lots of trails leading up Mt. Tolmie (which is in the middle of a busy neighbourhood, and within walking distance of both the University of Victoria and Camosun College’s Lansdowne Campus – which is why I was there).  It is also a site of a Garry Oak restoration.  I especially love how Garry Oaks look before they leaf out – all scraggly and Hallowe’eny looking.  Anyway, it was a beautiful day for a hilly walk overlooking the city!
