Bloganuary 2024, Day 20: What’s your dream job?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 20: What’s your dream job?
Why would I want a dream job when I am so close to retirement? In which case, my dream “job” would be to be able to do whatever I want whenever I want and not have to go to any more meetings.

Bloganuary 2024, Day 19: What makes a good leader?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 19: What makes a good leader?
An excellent question! For me, a good leader is someone who listens and encourages and supports their team to express opposing views and lets people do their jobs without looking over their shoulders all the time, but keeps an eye on things and deals with issues as they arise, not when it’s too late.
Lucy agrees.

Bloganuary 2024, Day 18: If you could un-invent something, what would it be?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 18: If you could un-invent something, what would it be?
Oh, the answers are so many. Soup-ed up car motors, the electoral college, the expression “for your convenience”, telemarketing, open offices. Next time I say to myself “whoever thought XXX was a good idea?” I’ll write it down.
But this? This is NOT one of those things!

Bloganuary 2024, Day 16: Where can you reduce clutter in your life?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 16: Where can you reduce clutter in your life?
Oh, so many aspects of my life could do with a good decluttering. The house, of course. It’s amazing how when you move into a bigger house you find ways to fill it up, and so on and so on. If we ever downsize, and our next place will be smaller, we need to make sure to get rid of stuff BEFORE packing everything and moving!
Then there is my brain. How do you declutter the activity in the brain? Meditation helps smooth things out and helps you find a way through it, but then more is added to the pile. Does it get better when you retire?
Bloganuary 2024, Day 14: In what ways do you communicate online?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 14: In what ways do you communicate online?
Many many ways, preferring email to phone calls whenever possible.. And of course texting, if that can be considered online. Blogging, Facebook posts and Messenger. Instagram, I used to Tweet, but Twitter went evil. I am on LinkedIn, but never go there.
Guess I never asked what is meant by online communication here. Perhaps online communication back in the day was telling people you were drying clothes on your clothes line.
Sorry, I get silly when I’m hungry.
Sometimes I actually do talk to people, but only when I can’t help it…
Bloganuary 2024, Day 13: Think back on your most memorable road trip.
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 13: Think back on your most memorable road trip.
Without a doubt the most memorable road trip was the first one Kevin and I took, shortly after we got together. We drove to Idaho Falls to visit my aunt and uncle who were living there at the time. We thought, hey we can drive down through Colorado and through Yellowstone and see some cool stuff on our way there. All was going according to plan until we hit a wall of snow. Literally. At the gates to the park. Who know the park closed for the winter and didn’t open again until May?
What now? Well time to drive around the park to get back to a highway. To make a long story short for the purposes of blogging, we ended up in Cody Wyoming, drove across what looked like a military nuclear wasteland (hey, the map said it was a road – these were the days LONG before GPS and Google Maps), almost hit a heard of Elk on a bridge at midnight, ended up in a town buried in snow on the other side of Yellowstone where thankfully one hotel was still open for us to check in (no food though) before finally getting to Idaho Falls the next day.
My aunt said if we could survive that, we would be together awhile. That was almost 30 years ago, so I guess she was right.

Don’t have to think too much about that. Bring on the weekend!

Bloganuary 2024, Day 11: Come up with a crazy business idea.

Crazy ideas for businesses:
- Minding your own..
- Taking care of…
- T’aint nobody’s…
Probably not so crazy, really.
