Bloganuary 2023, Day 21: Who is your favorite author and why?

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 21: Who is your favorite author and why?

Whoever authors these little ditties…do I really have to explain?

Bloganuary 2023, Day 19: What color describes your personality and why?

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 19: What color describes your personality and why?

Well, I guess that depends on how I define colours as having personality characteristics. You know, like for some, red is about anger, or fire, or hell, or love, or blood. Green is life, envy, spring. Blue is sadness, cool, bright skies. The list goes on, as do the contradictions. Maybe that’s how colour describes me. Try as you might, you can’t really define me. Well, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Bloganuary 2023, Day 18: What’s your favorite meal to cook and/or eat?

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 18: What’s your favorite meal to cook and/or eat?

Well, that is an interesting question. Honestly, I don’t enjoy cooking all the time although some days it is nice just to turn on some music and chop things and throw them in a pot to let go the stress of the day. I also enjoy the evenings Kevin and I hang out on the deck while he bbq’s various food stuff for our late night dinner enjoyment. But most of all I like ordering in food, which I do once every week or two, and going out for dinner, which we don’t do all that often. I mean, cooking is ok, but then you have to clean up afterwards, and I am always happier with less cleanup. What I do enjoy a lot is making a meal for mom and dad or for friends. Hanging out with food and drink makes me happy (but not too big of a party cause that overwhelms my poor brain…) I don’t even mind cleaning up after cause we always have such a good time.

Bloganuary 2023, Day 17: Describe the happiest day of your life.

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 17: Describe the happiest day of your life.

Why on earth would you have to choose one day? I mean, I guess for some people one day would stand out above all others, but I think a choice like that is just fraught with peril and insulting every person I have ever known. Meeting Kevin, the time my friends surprised me on my 50th, getting my dream job (even though it turned out to be a bit of a nightmare for a few years), being awarded the excellence in open education award, celebrating mom and dad’s 50th and 60th anniversaries, when we found Jasper after he ran away, the days when I don’t have to do anything, having supper out with Kevin, hanging out with friends, seeing The Police live, oh there are so many happy day moments. Every day has the potential to be a happy day, but happiest? Nope. Not going to choose (besides, I’d just change my mind tomorrow anyway…).

Here’s another thing that makes a happy day.

Bloganuary 2023, Day 16: Do you have a memory that’s linked to a smell?

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 16: Do you have a memory that’s linked to a smell?

I never know until it happens. Usually it has to do with the smell of food, sometimes taking me back to childhood or to dinners at my in-laws house. A whiff of a perfume can sometimes bring flashes, not always identifiable with a specific memory, but one of those feelings of familiarity or deja vu that is hard to pin down. Baking bread doesn’t really relate to a memory, but a sense of comfort and happiness that sometimes makes me think I should try baking my own bread, but it would have to be gluten free and that’s a whole thing…

Bloganuary 2023, Day 15: What fear have you conquered?

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 15: What fear have you conquered?

All the fears I need to in order to survive the day. The other fears are fine and prefer to be left alone to keep me nice and safe and comfy like Elliot here.

Bloganuary 2023, Day 14: What is your preferred mode of travel?

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 14: What is your preferred mode of travel?

It depends on where I am going and how fast I need to get there. Although I would never, ever say “a plane”. I think this might be a fun mode…

Bloganuary 2023, Day 13: If you had a billion US dollars, how would you spend it?

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 13: If you had a billion US dollars, how would you spend it?

Yeah, I don’t think I am going to commit to anything in writing. I am sure we would find something to spend it on, and I am equally sure we would suddenly have more relatives than we ever knew we had (don’t worry friends and relatives who talk to us now…we won’t forget you). Maybe I would revise this famous song:

Bloganuary 2023, Day 12: What chore do you find the most challenging to do?

Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary.  Day 12: What chore do you find the most challenging to do?

Isn’t the definition of chore, a chore? You know, something you don’t want to do but have to for some reason? Things you tick off on a list and feel good once they are done, but next week, there they are again. Back on the list. Why clean the house when it’s going to get dirty again? Well, I do clean the house (even when we aren’t having guests for dinner) and I do laundry (don’t like carrying it up two flights of stairs, but exercise I guess?) I cook suppers sometimes, I even clean toilets. But what I don’t do is iron. I never want to iron ever again (not that I ever ironed very much).

Does that make ironing challenging? Probably not, except in that it’s challenging to convince me to do it (you can’t). It’s just boring and silly…apologies to all those out there who love ironing so much they iron their underwear. I don’t understand you, but I respect your convictions.

Bloganuary 2023, Day 11: How do you define success?

Getting home at the end of a long day at work knowing I didn’t completely screw anything up…and I got some amazing pics on my walk 🙂
