Fandango’s One Word Challenge: Tenuous

“Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt. Today’s word is “Tenuous.””  (https://fivedotoh.com/2019/04/08/fowc-with-fandango-tenuous/)

My ability to take pictures of a moving Elliot is tenuous at best.

RagTag Daily Prompt: Dazzle

A response in starting over with a new daily avoidance (or non-avoidance, as the case may be), here with the Ragtag Daily Prompt (https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2019/04/08/rdp-monday-dazzle/), today is Dazzle.

I am less than dazzling in the morning…just saying.

Blogging from A to Z Challenge: G is for…Great (#AtoZChallenge)

Welcome to my April 2019 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!

I’ve revealed my theme (A picture-story a day (in the life, so to speak)), and as I have every year, I am going to be blogging my theme letters on the fly – this year I didn’t even plan to do otherwise!  So, here goes nothing 🙂

Today, G is for…Great, as in Food!

Yes, I’m stretching for today.  It’s been a long day and I just want to kick back and do a lot of nothing tonight, because tomorrow is going to be another long one.  One of those days when it’s not just busy and full of meetings, but where at least one of those meetings is the kind of meeting you would just rather not do. Or, in this case, not have to do.  But by this time tomorrow, it will be done, and with any luck it won’t be as bad as I am feeling it might be.

All that to say that I was not inspired enough today to take pictures of anything representing G.  So, instead, let’s reminisce about a Great meal we had on Saturday night, courtesy of friends Judy and Gord.

Starting, of course, with cheese and crackers and pretzels (and yummy homemade pate which was excellent on pretzels!)

Then, wonderful mini-caprese salad skewers, which we drizzled with balsamic.

With lamb, perfectly done…and greek potatoes which for some reason I did not take a picture of (they were photogenic and delicious, so I must have been distracted by the eating of them)…

And homemade cheesecake for dessert – complete with gluten-free pretzel crust And saskatoons on top.

It was Grrrrrreat!!!

Blogging from A to Z Challenge: F is for…Fragrance (#AtoZChallenge)

Welcome to my April 2019 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!

I’ve revealed my theme (A picture-story a day (in the life, so to speak)), and as I have every year, I am going to be blogging my theme letters on the fly – this year I didn’t even plan to do otherwise!  So, here goes nothing 🙂

Today, F is for…Fragrance

Oh, why not.  I went through many F words…and yes, that one too…trying to think of what would represent something in my day today.  Then I lit some incense, and it came to me.

I often take fragrances for granted, only noticing them when they strike me pleasantly or unpleasantly.   Like the smell of coffee in the morning.  The fragrance of coffee alone is almost enough to get me going in the morning…almost…

Then, there is the mouth-watering fragrance of soup…leftovers for lunch!  And it smells as good as it looks.

And, there is nothing like the fragrance of incense when you have three cats…trust me.

A Caturday for Kevin

Kevin always makes note of when I miss Caturday.  And even thought yesterday was all about Elliot, I don’t want him to miss his special day (meaning Kevin…ah, English third person confusion…)

So, just for you Kev:

Blogging from A to Z Challenge: E is for…Elliot (#AtoZChallenge)

Welcome to my April 2019 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!

I’ve revealed my theme (A picture-story a day (in the life, so to speak)), and as I have every year, I am going to be blogging my theme letters on the fly – this year I didn’t even plan to do otherwise!  So, here goes nothing 🙂

Today, E is for…Elliot – but I’m stopping the additional writing and photography challenge parts of the posts because they are harshing my A to Z theme buzz a bit.  I mean, they have a place, just perhaps not here.  Digressing again…

You knew I had to do it.  Elliot!!  Elliot is 8 this year, so for your enjoyment, here are 8 years of Elliot!

Blogging from A to Z Challenge: D is for…Distracted (#AtoZChallenge)

Welcome to my April 2019 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!

I’ve revealed my theme (A picture-story a day (in the life, so to speak)), and as I have every year, I am going to be blogging my theme letters on the fly – this year I didn’t even plan to do otherwise!  So, here goes nothing 🙂

Today, D is for…Distracted (And today’s April Writing Challenge and the April Photo Challenge themes are: Skinamarinky Dinky Dink, and Cute, respectively.)

Now, I don’t pretend to know what Skinamarinky Dinky Dink means, although I know the song says “I love you”, but I don’t think it’s ever established that “I love you” is what Skinamarinky Dinky Dink means.  But I suppose I could take it at face value, combine it with the Cute photo theme and come up with this:

I’m not sure if that adds up to a true writing challenge, but perhaps the rest of this post will.

I was working at home today, so came to a point this afternoon when I was ready for a break, and a walk in the sunshine.  As with many of my walks, I carry the trust Canon, and as I was walking came to realize that my theme today had to be distracted.  Because I was, distracted, many times.  By what, you may ask?  Well, have a look:

My first distraction happened as I walked down our steps.  Tulips loving the sun!

Then construction – can’t even walk down to the water without running into it these days!

I could have just taken pictures of the flowers, but the fence made a distracting frame.

Never saw this building from the path before – and the bikes were a nice additional distraction.

Not gonna stop to eat these mushrooms…

More construction…sigh…

And finally very much distracted by finding that the herons are back and building their nests.  I, of course, did not have the best lens with me, but I sat for awhile and tried to catch what I could!
