Blogging from A to Z Challenge: C is for…Chaos (#AtoZChallenge)
Welcome to my April 2019 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
I’ve revealed my theme (A picture-story a day (in the life, so to speak)), and as I have every year, I am going to be blogging my theme letters on the fly – this year I didn’t even plan to do otherwise! So, here goes nothing 🙂
Today, C is for…Chaos (And today’s April Writing Challenge and the April Photo Challenge themes are: Toilet paper testimonials, and Start with A, respectively.)
Chaos – what today was. A day full of rainy-ness, meetings, and angst about issues relating to our union at work. Issues which all worked out, BTW. Finally someone actually complying with the collective agreement. But I digress. Chaos. And rain. Meaning I did not walk today. Raining before work, no time at work due to the aforementioned meeting-chaos, and getting home too late (with clouds and a sore knee also playing a role) to feel like a walk.
What about that writing theme? Let’s talk about Chaos as it applies to toilet paper testimonials.
Someone puts the toilet paper on the wrong way – chaos ensues! I know, at least they replaced the toilet paper roll. Chaos of a different kind will be evident when you go to use the toilet paper and the roll is empty – come on, we have all been there. But perhaps that is too much information. With our old cat Simon (gone now for many years) we had lots of toilet paper Chaos, to the point we had to replace our toilet paper holder with one that had a lid. You know what I mean. Funny – none of our other cats in all these years have shown the same interest in shredding toilet paper.
Now, as for the photo challenge theme, how about some Anti-Chaos? Starts with A, has the word Chaos in it… What can I say? It’s been a long day! Nothin’ Chaotic here!

Blogging from A to Z Challenge: B is for…Blossoms (#AtoZChallenge)
Welcome to my April 2019 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
I’ve revealed my theme (A picture-story a day (in the life, so to speak)), and as I have every year, I am going to be blogging my theme letters on the fly – this year I didn’t even plan to do otherwise! So, here goes nothing 🙂
Today, B is for…Blossoms (it is April, after all)! I should note that I’ve refined my photo parameters for this challenge for photos taken this month, not necessarily on the day in question – you’ll see why momentarily. And today’s April Writing Challenge and the April Photo Challenge themes are: The Bridge to Malawi, and Funny, respectively.
I have no idea what I could write for a Bridge to Malawi. I guess I could have made B for Bridge, but I haven’t seen any bridges yet this month. I guess I could say that I am proud to be a Canadian, given that apparently this is Canadian charity (http://kidsworldmalawi.com/). It’s also a non-profit based in Massachusetts (http://bridgestomalawi.org/). It sounds like there is a lot of good being done for Malawi, which is a country in southeast Africa.
And now, back to Victoria and funny photos, let’s go for funny-peculiar. At least as far as the peculiar way I like to shoot cherry blossoms this year. I mean, why just take a photo of pretty blossoms – let’s look at what else is there! I took these pictures on my after-work walk yesterday (I didn’t get a chance to take them again today, which is probably good as it is getting cloudy out there).

Blogging from A to Z Challenge: A is for…Abandoned (#AtoZChallenge)
Welcome to my April 2019 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
I’ve revealed my theme (A picture-story a day (in the life, so to speak)), and as I have every year, I am going to be blogging my theme letters on the fly – this year I didn’t even plan to do otherwise! So, here goes nothing 🙂
Today, A is for…Abandonded – and yes, it IS still April 1 where I am!!
I though part of this challenge could be related to a couple of other monthly challenge I’ve been meaning to try out, namely the April Writing Challenge (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/04/01/april-writing-prompts-2/) and the April Photo Challenge (https://citysonnet.wordpress.com/2019/04/01/april-photo-a-day-challenge/). As usual, I am making this up as I go!!
So, for April 1st: Writing – Foibles and Follies, and Photo – Welcome April!
Today, I took two walks. One during lunch at work with the trusty iPhone camera, and one after work (and after feeding kitties and having a pick-me-up coffee) with the big-girl camera (my trusty Canon 50D). As I walked, I considered what my A should be today. Didn’t take long. I am constantly amazed by what people have abandoned while I walk. I’ve seen it all: socks, ties, shoes, couches, glasses (how DID you get home??). Today was no different.
On my lunch time walk, I found something you don’t see often anymore. Smoking real cigarettes is becoming a thing of the past (or is that just wishful thinking on my part?) For those of you who can’t tell from my artistic B&W rendering, it’s a lighter (flaming pink).

Then, on my big-girl camera walk, the ball cap abandoned down by the ocean. I wonder if anyone will have the guts to pick it up and take it home? While we’re talking photography, I used my 50mm at F16 – hmmm, I thought I was at F11. Guess I need to actually look at the lens (I use Kevin’s old non-digital lenses with an adapter on my Canon). I am trying to work with depth of field… Anyway, it was a bright, sunny afternoon, so my shutter speed was 1/2500, and ISO was 800. 800? Oh, man. I didn’t even check that! Ok, I promise to do better tomorrow… And thus, my foibles and follies for today!

As for the Happy April part of my post, here is something NOT abandoned – tulips in my yard finally blooming! Now THAT says Happy April.
