Monthly Archives: August 2016
Monday Window: August 15 2016
Time for another challenge, one I’ve been thinking about entering for awhile because there are SO many cool windows around here. This one is Monday Window (https://mondaywindow.wordpress.com)
And so, without further ado, here is a window in my neighbourhood!!
A little dinner, and kitties!

BBQ again last night. What can I say? It’s nice outside, and Kevin loves to BBQ. And I am happy to have him BBQ as long as it’s not a week night before work (he often gets home later than I want to eat as I get up pretty early in the morning).
Anyway, last night it was beer can chicken. Or, in our case, OJ chicken (we have a special flask for the task into which we can pour any liquid!).
Before
During
After
And to accompany this beautiful bird, wild rice and broccolini!
And finally, as promised in the title, kitties!
Here, Elliot has found a new spot – I just don’t get it…
And Jasper, well he prefers the tried and true.
Saturday night feast
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/complicated/
As usual for us, it was BBQ night. This time, because we had some zucchini from the garden, Kevin whipped up some zucchini and pineapple skewers, some prawn skewers, and we added some sablefish to the roster because, well because we are little piggies!
Some rice (with shitake mushrooms) and avocado rounded out the feast.
And I had a relaxing time on the deck waiting for it all to be done.
Kitties? Well, they did what kitties do…
The Vacation is dead.

Nothing left to do now but wait for Monday…
Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge 2016 Week 32
For this week’s Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge, 2016 Week 32 (https://ceenphotography.com/2016/08/12/cees-odd-ball-photo-challenge-2016-week-32/)
Does it get any odder than this?
Weekly Photo Challenge: Fun!
“This week’s theme is simple: share a photo of something fun! Let’s all shake our booties, literal or figurative.” (https://dailypost.wordpress.com/photo-challenges/fun/)
Fun, eh? I am imagining these guys were having fun – I was having fun puzzling out Cricket yet again…I just don’t get it…
It’s here…

A Photo a Week Challenge: Under the Lights
A Photo a Week Challenge at https://nadiamerrillphotography.wordpress.com. This week: Natural Monuments (https://nadiamerrillphotography.wordpress.com/2016/08/11/a-photo-a-week-challenge-under-the-lights/)
“In a new post created for this challenge, share a photo or two of two or three tricky lighting situations.”
I love taking pictures at night – more than taking pictures when it’s sunny out. I still haven’t figured out how to make sunny work for some shots. But night? They can be fun and mysterious even when you can’t really see what’s going on!!
I don’t tend to use flash in the dark to maintain the atmosphere, but I do pump up the ISO and lower the old shutter speed.
Here are a few photos I took one night when we walked out on the breakwater:
Three Line Tales – Week 28: Needle in the What??
This challenge comes from Sonya at Only100Words (https://only100words.xyz/2016/08/11/three-line-tales-week-28/) , and here are the rules:
“Write three lines to go with the weekly photo prompt (the photos I use are either royalty-free or I’ve been given permission by the photographer to use them; please credit where appropriate) – sideways interpretation is encouraged. The photo is the launch point – take us wherever you fancy.”
Bert?
What?
I thought you said it was in the HAY stack.
Three Things Thursday, August 11
Three Things Thursday from Nerd in the Brain is “three things that make me smile: an exercise in gratitude – feel free to steal this idea with wild abandon and fill your blog with the happy” (https://nerdinthebrain.com/2016/08/11/three-things-thursday-august-11-2016/)
Three things that made me smile this last week…
