Things I saw on a short walk last evening
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/fork/
Yesterday was a busy day. Back to work after 2 days off (you remember why!). No sleep the night before (stop turning brain…) Many meetings, then an appointment after work, then checking in on sick Kevin, who had slept all day but was feeling better, then off to a Victoria Heritage Foundation meeting (the first one I’ve been to where all the Heritage folks were talking to potential owners of homes about to be placed on the city’s Heritage Registry – I was invited as an owner of a home that is Designated Heritage and who has received grant funding for a lot of repair work. VHF is a fantastic organization!!)
Anyway, long day, long story. To get to my point, I walked to the meeting and took a few pictures of things I saw in our neighbourhood along the way…
A sidewalk with a path beside it. Why? Why??
Many, many flowers. Here are a few
These are poppies (didn’t turn out great)
I also got a little artistic with them, just because
Cruise ships were in. How did I know? Here’s how… Trust me, you don’t ever want to be behind a couple of these when you’re trying to get out of the neighbourhood in your car (I’ve learned a lot about how to be patient during this horse-carriage-laden-street season)!
Sights at the school where the meeting was. These fence-fish are on every school fence in this city. Why?? Why???
And after the meeting, I walked home to make sure Kevin got some food (he had already eaten some waffles, but I fed him real food too…) I took a couple of pictures of some of the cute houses and fences we see every day around here.
And thus ended my long day. Finally I was able to sit and rest and eventually get some sleep. Today is a shorter day, and wait – tomorrow is Saturday!! Whoo hoo!! TGIF all 🙂
Thanks goodness it’s Kitten Thursday…

…because I got, maybe, three hours (NOT uninterrupted) sleep last night. Why? Partly because Kevin came home sick yesterday (he hasn’t barfed yet, but essentially it seems to be what I had – and he never gets sick), and partly because I’m going back to work today after a long weekend (one with full-blown stomach flu) and 2 days off recovering from said stomach flu (which should be enough to explain why I had trouble sleeping, but it is also going to be a busy day of non-stop meetings, followed by after work activities – crazy! I mean, when was the last time I had any after work activities???).
So…
Weekly Photo Challenge: Jubliant
“Rejoice! It’s the end of the week, and time for a celebratory photo challenge.” (https://dailypost.wordpress.com/photo-challenges/jubilant/)
For me, after a short bout with the stomach flu, jubilance is finally enjoying a nice cup o’ coffee (and it staying put once drunk 🙂 )
Getting Better
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/grain/
Yes. Getting better. Just a bit of a fever now. I have eaten some solid food and it’s staying put. And this morning, I even felt like a little coffee. Guess I’ll be back to the old salt mines tomorrow.
This was my yesterday:
The only thing I could drink – Ginger Ale
Sort of solid food for lunch (there was solid food at supper)
And kitties nearby
Stomach Flu…

I was so sick yesterday I didn’t take one picture…so, here are some comforting pictures from the rest of the weekend…
Dinner. Last Night. The Redemption!
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/fairytale/
Look familiar? Let’s try this again.
We added rice with shitake mushrooms
And sauteed kale with garlic and cherry tomatoes
And waited…
Elliot and Jasper were worried…
But…Voila!! All made it inside for our eating pleasure!!
And all was well with the world.
Dinner. Last night. A Play by Play

Last night…
Spot prawns and sablefish
Getting spicy
All spiced up and ready to BBQ
And here we go…
Elliot keeping an eye out
And me as well (Kevin is the BBQ king…)
I don’t have picture of the final product. There was a tragic accident with the sablefish and it is too difficult to talk about. There was, luckily, enough saved for dinner, and it was delicious. The lesson: be very careful when removing a large piece of sablefish from the BBQ…
Silent Saturday

Shhhhhhhhhhhh….

A Long Weekend…soon…

Yesterday was not a good day. I went to work for awhile, and then came home as I was feeling pretty crappy. I slept for a few hours, ate supper, waited for Kevin to get home so we could hang for a bit, and then went to bed. It’s a long weekend this weekend, so let’s just get through today and hopefully I will feel better by Tuesday.
As a result, it’s another Kitten extravaganza today! Hope you enjoy.
Wednesday’s Walk
Surprise! Another morning post from me. I used my avoidance post for Kitten Thursday and realized that I also needed (yes, needed) to post pictures of my walk yesterday, which I took during my lunch hour. I don’t know if I will walk today or not. I am not feeling great today (headache, feeling a bit under the weather…) so I better give you some walk pictures while I can!
It was a cloudy and breezy day. A little on the cooler side, compared to what it has been (and in fact, it rained last night – I was wrong Susan).
Here I am heading down into the Uplands neighbourhood. It is about 1 km to get there from work, along a busy and noisy street, but once in Uplands, it’s pretty quiet. That’s important so I can hear my music playing while I walk. Walk in silence? That’s just crazy talk.
Yes, there were a few of these guys along the way, keeping watch on my suspiciously.
And Rhodos everywhere – not quite as suspicious as the deer. Some of them are done now, but some are fresh (and many are huge!)
These ones are done, but pretty in another way now.
Then there were trees to look at
And flowers (other than rhodos)
And stairs and fences. I think I need to start taking pictures of all the different kinds of fences and gates I see. Sounds like a new challenge!
And meadows
And a posing butterfly!
Thanks for joining me on my walk 🙂
