NaNoPoblano Day 20: At last!
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/it-builds-character/ AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015.
Friday. And for you, followers, today there is nothing interesting to report from yesterday, nothing but kitties.
Yesterday’s 365 theme was “from above”, so there are many kitties from that perspective. For example, Jasper
And Elliot
And Nico (hiding behind the couch in the den, next to the furnace vent of course.)
Then many pictures of kitties as I chased them around the house trying to get them to hold still and look at me for photos. For example, Jasper and Elliot on the stairs
A ghostly Elliot blur jumping up
Elliot trying to grab the toy I was tempting him with as I tried to get his attention.
And now, Friday!
NaNoPoblano Day 19: What do you mean it’s not Friday?
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/the-power-of-touch/ AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015.
All day yesterday I thought it was Thursday. Even though I knew it wasn’t. At least these was this at the end of the day.
I guess that makes today the day I think it’s Friday even though it’s not. Sigh…I suppose there is nothing to do now but appease the followers.
NaNoPoblano Day 18: An Anniversary!
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/the-outsiders/ AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015.
What a wicked day it was yesterday. Pouring rain and gale-force winds. I had to drive between campuses and there were two huge trees down (they were already being taken care of, so I was in no danger aside from having to navigate a couple of detours – I’m always up for a change of scenery!)
Today it’s already nicer. Already dry outside, and it’s supposed to be sunny today too! An excellent day for my two-year anniversary at my job. 2 years, meaning that my probation is finally up!! I’m sure no one will note the day, but I’m feeling pretty good. It is, however, hard to believe it’s already been 2 years. Time, man. Just doesn’t stand still for anything, except when you’re waiting for it.
After slogging through wind and rain, I relaxed at home a bit with some coffee.
Then took a lot of kitty pictures. Just because. I probably should think of other subjects one of these days…
NaNoPoblano Day 17: Spider
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt (it’s back!) https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/the-great-pretender/ AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015.
Yesterday I worked, I came home and made supper, it rained all night, now I’m tired.
Here is a spider I saw yesterday morning on our front steps (I did NOT squish it – it was outside where it belongs) and Jasper and Elliot last night.
That is all.
NaNoPoblano Day 16: Monday again?
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt (well, day three and no Daily. I am almost ready to give up on it…) AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015.
But wait, was that Glenn??
Oh, sorry. I got ahead of myself Sunday. A day of laundry, grocery shopping, visiting a friend just out of the hospital, and going to a concert. Kind of glad I blog – otherwise I would never remember what I did on the weekends. It’s often more than I think (but really not a whirlwind of drama and excitement – which is ok),
First of all, it was a gorgeous day. No rain, blue skies, and cool clouds. This is us driving to see our friend Judy, who was just home today from the hospital (surgery, home and feeling good!)
It’s definitely fall (almost winter)
A few horses and carriages are still out there, even off-season.
We brought Judy some chocolate and an azalea plant. Why a plant? Thought it was pretty. Why chocolate? Goes without saying…
Last night I went to a concert with mom. The group playing was Aventa (http://www.aventa.ca/) – as a board member, one of the things I do is sell tickets, so we were there early. This is one of the cases of musical instruments in the hallway.
This is the pen on the table.
And that was Sunday. Now I just need to wake up for Monday…except…was that Glenn?????
NaNo Poblano Day 15: Reflecting on a day of errands
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt (well, it would be if there had been one posted yet…day two with no Daily Post…hmmm…) AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015
Well, not an entire day of errands. But a few (important) things we had to do and pick up, followed by a sudden rush to dinner at our favourite restaurant.
First, we went to our favourite coffee roasters to pick up a couple of bags of beans. You can’t really tell from the picture (due to the pouring rain through the window of the car), but the store is called Yoka’s (http://www.yokascoffee.com/) and we go there every couple of weeks to replenish our supply.
Next, it was a trip to Fairway Market (http://www.fairwaymarkets.com/) so Kevin could pick up some special air freshener we can’t get a lot of places in Victoria. This particular Fairway, the one on Quadra, is kind of cool because it carries a lot of speciality Asian foods, so it’s fun just wandering around to see what there is.
Next, we stopped to get gas, well diesel, but I forgot to take a picture of this exciting event. Then it was a quick trip to the camera store so Kevin could suss out options for renting a camera to replace the one in his clinic that needs repairs.
Finally, it was a trip out to Langford – what’s with all the traffic on a Saturday afternoon (yes, afternoon – stupid November early darkness…)
and our favourite wine store, Everything Wine (http://www.everythingwine.ca/).
Where we saw the biggest bottle of wine we’ve ever seen (we did NOT buy it…)
We then went home and Kevin decided we should try to get ourselves out for my belated birthday dinner. He called a couple of places he had groupons for, but they were full, so he called our absolutely favourite place in town, Olo (http://www.olorestaurant.com/), and miraculously there was a cancellation in 20 minutes! So, we quickly changed and ran out the door.
Here is a short gallery of our dinner experience…
BTW, the above was the absolute best dish of the night – a sunflower seed risotto or something. WOW!!
And finally, kitty pictures to end the evening.
NaNoPoblano Day 14: Take time for a bit of joy today
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt (well, it would be if there had been one posted yet…) AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015
All I feel I can do today is post some pictures of a couple of things that brought me some joy yesterday. There were more, including eating takeout pizza and nachos with Kevin as we hung out last night, but here are the ones I took pictures of.
The “fireplace” on my “desk” (really a table…still…but a desk is coming) at work.
My new hair.
And, of course, kitties.
Peace.
NaNoPolano Day 13: Friday the 13th
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/rsvp/ AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015
Friday! Incidentally also the 13th. And absolutely pouring outside! We didn’t get the wind storm some were predicting, although there was a lot of wind outside of the city, and ferries were cancelled (I’m sure glad my trip to Vancouver was LAST week!) This winter is starting out a lot wetter than last, and I hear there is already snow on Mount Washington, whereas last year most of the ski season did not happen. The rain is also good since there was pretty much none for over 4 months this summer.
Anyway, Friday, the 13th, raining. And I still have to go to work. But at least the hair gets a change-up after work today!
Before I go, I just need to ask: what is it about cats and boxes?
Well, Elliot and boxes. Jasper could care less about them.
NaNoPoblano Day 12: I can play Christmas music now!
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/ripped-from-the-headlines/ AND in non-avoidance of NaNoPoblano 2015 https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/nanopoblano-2015
So, it’s the day after Remembrance Day, which means I can start thinking Christmas now! You know, playing Christmas music, getting Christmas cards ready (yes, I still mail Christmas cards), thinking about decorating, NOT worrying about Starbucks red cups…
Truth be told, I have already been playing Christmas music (for example, I’ve been playing it while I clean the house and when I make supper), but now I can play it more 🙂
Anyway, yesterday, being Remembrance Day, was a holiday for both Kevin and me, so we hung out together lazily for the day. Then, feeling a bit like we should do something, he went outside and did a bit of cleaning in the garage and I cleaned the house. It’s not really “spicy”, but it is always nice to have a clean house, even if it doesn’t stay clean for long!
The kitties appreciate it too…or probably they don’t much care as long as their litter boxes are clean and food dishes are full.

That is all.
