July Writing Prompts, Day 15 – Tempered glass

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 15, the prompt is “Tempered glass”

Tempered (not to be confused with temperamental) glass is a wonderous thing when you are trying to keep fire from blowing all over the place and setting your house ablaze!

July Writing Prompts, Day 14 – Writing weirdos

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 14, the prompt is “Writing weirdos”

Writing weirdos…weird is one of those words where i is not before e except after c.  Stupid rule.  And let’s be clear, it’s not a rule of English, but a rule of English Spelling!  And there are really good reasons for a lot of what we think of as weird spelling in English, what with the Great Vowel Shift and all (not to be confused with the great bowel shift…too much information?)

And now, to end this post, here is the parking lot we were in at Butchart Gardens – so at the end of the day, we could say we had to return to Camel-Lot…

July Writing Prompts, Day 13 – Dismantled and disguised

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 13, the prompt is “Dismantled and disguised”

I am suddenly wondering how something could be dismantled and disguised at the same time.  I mean, I guess being dismantled could be a kind of disguise.  Kind of like a puzzle.  Guess the thing that is lying dismantled on your floor.  The next step?  Putting it together again.  Reminds me of the Star Trek episode, The Menagerie, where the aliens re-mantled the human woman, but had no guidebook and really f$%^ed it up.  Guess they didn’t have YouTube!

July Writing Prompts, Day 12 – Budding beauties

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 12, the prompt is “Budding beauties”

When I first read this prompt, I thought it said “budding buddies”, and I thought, hey!  I can talk about beginning friendships, or flowers that bud at the same time.  But then, I realized it said “beauties”, and I was stumped.

July Writing Prompts, Day 11 – Heather pink

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 11, the prompt is “Heather pink”

A, another paint swatch colour, or perhaps a crayola crayon.  Now, if you are talking about the plant heather, some of it is pink, although some is white.  But heather pinks can vary, so I wonder which heather pink is considered “heather pink”?

July Writing Prompts, Day 10 – Jumping june bugs

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 10, the prompt is “Jumping june bugs”

Holy jumping june bugs, batman!  I have to say, I have nothing.  I have never seen a june bug, that I know of.  Or is it June bug?  My spell check is screaming at me to fix june to June.  And are the bugs jumping, or is june jumping?  Maybe it’s June who is jumping as she plants bugs, or as she bugs someone – her little brother?  Do June bugs jump?   Leap?  Hop?  Jump is better, cause it begins with a J.  June bugs, May flies, what’s October?  February??

How about a picture of three (yes…three) young herons, figuring their way out in the world.

July Writing Prompts, Day 9 – Espresso cupcakes

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 9, the prompt is “Espresso cupcakes”

Espresso cupcakes sound like a happy dessert to me, but only if they are gluten free.  Yes, I am one of those…but luckily we here in Victoria take our gluten free cupcake purchasing options very seriously!

July Writing Prompts, Day 8 – Traded for trouble

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 8, the prompt is “Traded for trouble”

I wonder what I would trade for trouble.  Guess it depends on how one defines “trouble”.  Or maybe not.  I would be fine getting into trouble if it meant things would change for the better overall.  That’s looking at it from the perspective of taking trouble in exchange for something else, though.  What about giving up trouble for something?  Who wouldn’t trade their troubles for something non-trouble-like?  Pack up your troubles, and put them up on Used Victoria.  And if they’re free, well, people will take anything for free!!  Right Elliot?

July Writing Prompts, Day 7 – Myrtle beach

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 7, the prompt is “Myrtle beach”

So, the prompt today is Myrtle beach.  I’ve heard of Myrtle Beach, well in so far as I seem to vaguely remember people my grandparents’ age talking about it, or maybe it was on TV back in the day.  You know, those old ’60s sitcoms?  Didn’t someone talk about Myrtle Beach?  And what is a Myrtle, anyway?  I would look it up, but I’m exhausted from today’s cooking and cleaning activities.  Anyway, no Myrtles here…

July Writing Prompts, Day 6 – Twilight dreams

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/

And today, July 6, the prompt is “Twilight dreams”

If twilight dreams, what does she dream of?  Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!
