July Writing Prompts, Day 10 – Jumping june bugs
From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), July’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2019/07/01/july-2019-writing-prompts/
And today, July 10, the prompt is “Jumping june bugs”
Holy jumping june bugs, batman! I have to say, I have nothing. I have never seen a june bug, that I know of. Or is it June bug? My spell check is screaming at me to fix june to June. And are the bugs jumping, or is june jumping? Maybe it’s June who is jumping as she plants bugs, or as she bugs someone – her little brother? Do June bugs jump? Leap? Hop? Jump is better, cause it begins with a J. June bugs, May flies, what’s October? February??
How about a picture of three (yes…three) young herons, figuring their way out in the world.

June bugs are beetles that fly, and will dive-bomb into your face and hair like drunken sailors. I never heard of June bugs until I moved to the Midwest and they, like cicadas, are annoying!
Potato bugs (aka Jerusalem crickets), like what I grew up with in California, are also horrifying. Thankfully, it’s too cold for them here.
Generally, I’m not a bug fan, lol.
Glad we don’t seem to have those here – just spiders. I can’t stand spiders!
