Bloganuary 2024, Day 30: What do you complain about the most?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 30: What do you complain about the most?
The weather, cats disturbing my work meetings, traffic, lines, people counting out minute bits of change or not being prepared to order when they get to the front of the line ( mean, what are they doing all that time they are standing in line anyway?) stores that advertise they carry the kitty litter I want on their website only to tell me when I stop there for said kitty litter that they stopped carrying it two months ago – update your website!
That sounds like enough to complain about today…
Bloganuary 2024, Day 29: What are your favorite sports to watch and play?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 29: What are your favorite sports to watch and play?
None of them.
Bloganuary 2024, Day 28: What would you do if you won the lottery?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 28: What would you do if you won the lottery?
Well, I think that depends on how much. Although it’s a moot point since I don’t buy lottery tickets. Hmmmm…maybe I should start…
Bloganuary 2024, Day 27: What books do you want to read?
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 27: What books do you want to read?
All of them.
Bloganuary 2024, Day 26: Write about a few of your favorite family traditions.
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 26: Write about a few of your favorite family traditions.
Funny how many family “traditions” revolve around Christmas. We have breakfast at mom and dad’s to open stockings and presents, and have Christmas dinner at our place. We have had to make adjustments over the years as we have an early dinner, but that means I can’t do breakfast at mom and dad’s and also make Christmas dinner. So we will open presents on Christmas Eve morning or Boxing Day.
I guess what I am saying is traditions change, and have to change as lives change. What is more important, keeping traditions the same or being with the people you love?

Absolutely nothing.

Bloganuary 2024, Day 24: Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting.

Well, that used to be the Bug Zoo, but I did get to visit that a few years back. Yes, there really is a bug zoo here, and it is pretty cool although I confess I did NOT hold any of the creepy crawly critters. I did watch others do so though.
BUT there are many places around here I have not visited and someday hope to. Just not during tourist season.. Guess I have never done a carriage ride (they go down our street and we have often wondered if we could catch one and get a lift home…)

Bloganuary 2024, Day 23: List five things you do for fun.
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 23: List five things you do for fun.
So, is something I find fun something others find fun? What I find “fun”…
Going out for dinner with Kevin. Fun because I hang out with Kevin and also don’t have to prep, cook, or clean! Close second, having dinner with mom and dad, or with friends.
Taking pictures of random things. This morning while I was waiting for my friend and colleague to pick me up for work, since Kevin needed the car, I just took random shots of whatever caught my eye.
Writing stories from interviews I have with faculty members at my college. That I then post on our blog and share across the college. Sounds like work, but it makes me so happy.
Doing my blog. Mostly pictures and nonsense, but I have fun with it!
Reading. Anything. But if I stop having fun, I don’t always keep going. I’m at the point in life now that I don’t feel like I have to finish a book just because.
Now, here is one of those random shots from this morning.

That me sitting down at my computer for a work meeting does not mean it is time to start knocking everything off my desk in order to pull my attention away from my meeting…
Who us?

Bloganuary 2024, Day 21: Write about your first name: its meaning, significance, etymology, etc.
Something to get me going for January, Bloganuary. Day 21: Write about your first name: its meaning, significance, etymology, etc.
Apparently the name Emily is one of the most popular girl names, consistently, around the world. Who knew? It may come from the Latin word aemulus meaning “rival,” or the Greek term aimylos meaning “wily” or “persuasive.” Not sure I am any of these things.
What I know about why I was named Emily, well it was my grandmother’s middle name, she was Portia Emily, and it is my mom’s first name, Emily Jane, although she doesn’t use it except for official things.
For those of you named after parents, you know it can lead to some hilarious consequences, like having a plane reservation cancelled because there were two Emily S’s with tickets. Fun times!
