Blogging from A to Z Challenge: H is for… (#AtoZChallenge)

Welcome to my April 2021 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!

I’ve revealed my theme (Photos and Stories), and once again, in spite of the best laid plans (who am I kidding, there were no plans, only aspirations) I am going to be blogging my theme letters on the fly.  So, here goes nothing!

Today, H is for Hutch. Last time I told you a little bit, a very little bit, about Kevin’s globe in our dining room. Today it’s a piece from my childhood memories. Mom and dad’s hutch. I remember this being in our house, well our second house. I don’t remember where it was before I was five and moved into the house I lived in until I moved in with Kevin. But in the house I remember it was always in the kitchen. Mom and dad gave it to use when they finally redid their kitchen long after I moved out.

I remember this hutch having mom’s salt and pepper collection in it. It had other things in it too, but that’s the big thing I remember. And that brings back memories of wandering the neighborhoods in the summer looking for garage sales and picking up random salt and pepper pieces to augment moms collection. I know, only a mother can appreciate that kind of effort.

Today, this hutch sits in the hallway of our kitchen, giving us extra storage space, especially for our BBQ utensils and our wine rack.  Close at hand for every occasion!

Thanks for visiting my 2021 A to Z Challenge – Letter H.  You can find links to more blogs participating in this challenge at A to Z 2021 Challenge Master List (Google Docs).

  1. My mom collected salt and pepper shakers too! I used to play donut shop when I was little and I used those to “sprinkle” the donuts (which were actually poker chips) – LOL. Great memories.
