Time flies!
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/a-mystery-wrapped-in-an-enigma/
The kitty of one of our friend’s died the other day, and so in respect I am not going to post cute kitty pictures in my blog for the next couple of days. RIP Nikki.
Instead, for today, I decided to look back in the old archives to see what pictures I took one year ago, in May 2014. And I found some I wanted to share. Of the back garden and raised beds.
So, these were the new raised beds last year – the first two new ones (we added another 2 this spring).
And now, full of soil.
And here they are this year so far – we already have lettuce in the fridge for our eating pleasure!
And last May we were also adding new soil to the newly dug up back yard gardens (which will change again after the house is painted, meaning all that “grass” (meaning a bit of grass, but mostly weeds) will be gone, and stepping stones and wooly thyme added in.) Anyway, this is what the back gardens looked like last year (and note also these pictures were taken from the deck before the railing…)
And now?
I’ll definitely have to post updates again because, as tends to happen in gardens, things have grown!

I’m so sorry about your friend’s kitty.
Lovely raised bed and other photos. Your flower pictures in recent days have been so pretty.
Thanks very much! That’s one of the many wonderful things about a garden – endless photo ops!
Sorry about you kitty… I love how you built your raised beds. Beautiful garden you have. 🙂
Thanks! But, to be completely honest, we didn’t actually build the beds. There are some local folks who build them, so the first two came from one person up island, and the second two from another. Gotta love Used Victoria!
We built a vegetable raised bed a few years ago. It works great! 🙂
So sorry about the kitty. I love a backyard paradise. Beautiful and welcoming.
Thanks so much. It’s a nice quiet haven.
What a great yard you have…the less grass the better.
So very sorry about Nikki.
Exactly – only fun and swishy grasses in the garden!
