It would still be nice if it were Friday today, but I’m ok with Thursday…
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/linger/
I was thinking this morning of how best to avoid today’s writing prompt while I was waiting patiently for it to appear in my in-box, and I’ve decided on a brief tour of what’s blooming in the old garden right now.
As you can see, we still have a few daffodils blooming. This is because I planted them late. I am pretty sure that they won’t be blooming this late next year!
We also still have lots of tulips, although sadly many of them are also spent. I didn’t take pictures of any of those. They make me too sad…
I’m not sure what this is – I think I planted bulbs, but of course now I can’t remember what I planted. I like them though!!
Some flowers in pots – gardeners around the world are grimacing as I can never remember what most of the plants in our garden are called…
Roses and marigolds on our deck (those are easy to remember)
There is still much to do in the garden. There are a few holes to fill where plants did not come back from last year, and a patch that I need to fill with somewhat hardier plants (that like shade) than I tried last year. Then there is the back lawn which will be replaced with wooly thyme and stepping stones after the house is painted. Then there is the front which I want to take apart after the house is painted and start from scratch – just gotta get those california lilacs out of there (Kevin, it has to happen – they have taken over the entire front yard.) I can hardly wait!!

Beautiful photos. I can tell you that flowers 7, 8 and 9 from the top are osteospermum. Last week I planted four in my garden in the same colours, with a white one. They are very pretty and usually flower all through Summer. This year I even had a survivor from last year, but he decided to die eventually.
Phew…thanks! I knew someone would let me know. Of course, I’ll forget by tomorrow, but at least I can come back here and check again. I plant them every year because they last so long, but I always forget their names. Maybe I should just call them Fred and Pete…
