January Writing Prompts, Day 1 – Belugas and dreamlifters

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt, January’s Writing prompts.

Today, “Belugas and dreamlifters”.

Frank sat by the shore, watching the waves drift in and out. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see whales today? Belugas. That’s what would do it for me. No, not just whales, but belugas. Belugas floating by in the current. Yeah, right, just a wave again.  I’ll just look for belugas lifting up my dreams.

Frank was a bit weird, you know. Always belugas and dreamlifters with him.

January Writing Prompts, Day 18 – Portraits of time

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

My portraits of time seem to contain a lot of blotches from not doing all the things I want, or say I want, to do with my time.  But then, what’s wrong with sitting and reading when I could be cleaning the house?  And how can I work in the yard when it’s raining all the time?  And going to kickboxing after work when it’s so dark already it must be bed time?  Plans versus reality keeps my portraits of time blurry.

January Writing Prompts, Day 15 – Bring me the cheese please

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

Bring me the cheese, please.  And while you’re at it, throw in some grapes and olive, and don’t forget the chips and crackers!

January Writing Prompts, Day 9 – The absence of color

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

Lots of people think that the absence of colour is white, but white is actually a blending of all the colours.  Black is the absence of colour…and kind of spooky too.

January Writing Prompts, Day 8 – Apple jelly jumping jacks

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

Eat enough apple jelly, and you need to do more than jumping jacks!

January Writing Prompts, Day 6 – The last book of Og

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

It’s always disappointing to reach the last book in a series.  All I could do when I finished the last book of Og was stare aimlessly out my front window wondering what to read now.

January Writing Prompts, Day 5 – Butt cream and beer

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

When you go to a pub, and the board reads “Special of the Day:  Butt Cream and Beer”, I guess you have two choices, run away, or ask what kind of beer…

January Writing Prompts, Day 4 – The disappearance of S.V.

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

“Eventually, all we remembered was that one day he was there, and the next he was not.  No one ever knew what happened.  The disappearance of S.V. would forever be a mystery.”

“Come on, Carl, I just asked you to stop saying” so very” every time you talked about the new year and how great it was going to be…don’t be such a drama queen.”

January Writing Prompts, Day 3 – Hideously huge

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

It loomed above larger than life, hideously huge, you might say.  Not that it was hideous itself, just huge in an obscene, hideous way.  You know.  The kind of huge that makes you take a step back and say, man, that is hideously huge.  Of course, it was also a Christmas tree, so no one actually wanted to say that out loud…

January Writing Prompts, Day 2 – Shadow monsters

From Putting My Feet in the Dirt (https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/), January’s prompts are here: https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2020/01/01/january-writing-prompts-3/

In the shadows, there are monsters.  Shadow monsters, some call them.  They lurk unseen until suddenly BAM there they are!  Looking up at you, daring you to run.
