Jasper – enjoying the first fire we have had in awhile. Summer must be starting to close down…
Random things from yesterday’s walk

Yesterday, after finishing a second coat of paint on our back porch, and painting the mid-railing thingy in the bathroom (first coat), I decided I needed to get out of the house for a walk in the sunshine. Here are some of the (very random and sometimes scenic) things I saw during my leisurely ramble away from paint and paintbrushes:
Well, of COURSE it’s Kitten Thursday!!

A rare shot of Nicholas, relaxing while Elliot is sleeping and thus NOT bothering him.
Jasper wondering why I am not petting him.
And Elliot saying “Get that damn camera out of my face and let me sleep!”
Some more “What I did today” as the holidays count down

And second coats on the bathroom walls, so not much to see there. But, the porch – ah the porch!! Ok, it does look a bit splotchy – it was still drying when I took my picture. It was the end of a long day when I painted it. It will look better tomorrow after a second coat. Tomorrow: touch-ups in the bathroom, second coat in the porch, and painting the chair railing (or whatever the heck that mid-wall divider thing is called.)

What I did today, whichever day of holidays it is…

I’m running out of holidays…sigh… But, here is what I did today:
Before:
Ran out of paint…brb!
And first coat DONE! And yes, I did do all the green again (not a bad match, considering I had no idea what the original colour was!)
I’m tired now. Second coat, and the porch tomorrow (I would have done the first coat for the porch today too, except for having to take an hour and get more gold paint!!) Time to relax 🙂
Recalling our trip to Ottawa – Day 2
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/amble/
So, today is not officially a vacation day – it’s a stat holiday here in most of Canada (in BC, it’s called BC Day…just because we needed a holiday in August, and that seemed like as good a reason as any!) Anyway, thought I would spend today’s avoidance prompt finally getting back to my actual holiday trip to Ottawa posts. So, here is Day 2!
Day 2: June 28. Kevin goes to his conference, while Emily has flashbacks wandering around the places she remembers from 27 years ago.
Places like the University of Ottawa, which in some ways hasn’t changed at all. Very flash-backy!!
The Music Building – brand new 27 years ago (I studied bass here…)
Tabaret Hall, where we played concerts
The Pit in the Student Union Building (still there?!?! Wow!! Dart boards seem to be gone though.)
The residences where I used to live – also brand new 27 years ago
Enough of the trip down memory lane at the University. Now, off to wander around downtown Ottawa to see the sights – sights still there after all these years. Here are some of those sights, in no particular order.
And I ended my wanderings in the Market for a late lunch – gluten free fish and chips, and non-gluten-free local beer!
And that evening, after Kevin returned, we wandered out for dinner at a really nice little place in the Market (just so you know, the Market is right across the street from the hotel we stayed in…which is why we always ended up there).
Then, we wandered down to Parliament Hill (before all the security was set up for Canada Day)
We got close to the stage to watch some Cirque-like stage testing going on. This was the closest we got to actually seeing anything on the stage – Canada Day was way too crazy to get there – as you will see!!
Then we watched some protesting (Indigenous peoples trying to put a teepee up on the Hill – made all the news. They were eventually allowed to).
And finally we returned to our hotel to find that someone had set off the fire alarm…an interesting end to a long and flash-backy day!

A Late Caturday

No, I didn’t forget that it’s Caturday – and neither did they!
What I’ve done on 2017 Summer Holidays Part II, Day (9) 10

Ok, let’s forget about Day 9. That was Kitten Thursday, after all. Plus, part of vacation is doing nothing, right??
Today, however, I spent 2 hours in the main floor bathroom scraping and sanding off lines from wallpaper borders (I HATE wallpaper – have I mentioned that before??). Can you tell? Me neither…sigh… I just want to paint!!

A Sore Throat and Kitten Thursday!
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/symphony/
Sure glad it’s Kitten Thursday. I woke up with a horrible sore throat. Don’t know if it’s the cold we had over the weekend (it was much worse for Kev…) or the heat or the smoke in the air from the fires on the mainland. I just know I don’t feel great today. So, don’t know what will get done on my 9th day of vacation, but here are Jasper and Elliot to entertain you today!
