2020 365: Day 111 (April 20)
The prompt today is “I shouldn’t do this”.
But I’m going to anyway – running another online workshop where I have to talk a lot, and sometimes answer questions I would rather not (can I say my mic is broken??) Only 10 to go before the end of the month…

Blogging from A to Z Challenge: Q is for…Jill Quigley (#AtoZChallenge)
Welcome to my April 2020 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
Jill Quigley (1981- ) is a contemporary Irish photographer whose “recent work has been concerned with the representation of rural Irish life and landscape and disrupting traditional approaches and narratives to this subject. ” (https://www.belfastexposed.org/exhibitions/jill-quigley/). She also takes lots of cool pictures of abandoned buildings, which I definitely can relate to! Well, the taking pictures of abandoned buildings part, maybe not the cool pictures part…
These are the moments I wish we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic, not so much because I could walk down to the local art gallery and see Quigley’s work, but that I could walk down to one of the local galleries and see ANYONE’S work.

2020 Home Photo Challenge April 20, 2020
A Home Photo Challenge from Lillie-Put, who is challenging himself to do one photo every day taken from his home. I think this is a great challenge, especially for those days when you just can’t get outside (or get home at the end of the day, and it’s dark, and you’ve completely forgotten to take any pictures when there was light outside.)
Ok, I know…this has been a busy month…

Blogging from A to Z Challenge: P is for…Jenny Pike (#AtoZChallenge)
Welcome to my April 2020 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
Jenny Pike (1922-2004) was an Canadian photographer, a servicewoman in WWII, and “was one of a groundbreaking wave of female recruits to the Forces during World War II. She was among the first group of young women to be trained as photographers and photo technicians, and helped to process the first pictures of the invasion to liberate north-west Europe – known as D-Day.” (https://navalandmilitarymuseum.org/archives/articles/paving-the-way/jenny-pike/)
I was very interested to read about Pike, as she lived and worked (and died) here in Victoria, where I also live. But, I was bound to be frustrated in my search for her photography as I could not find any examples. So, I guess it’s a short post from me this morning…
