Blogging from A to Z Challenge: Q is for…Jill Quigley (#AtoZChallenge)

Welcome to my April 2020 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!

Jill Quigley (1981- ) is a contemporary Irish photographer whose “recent work has been concerned with the representation of rural Irish life and landscape and disrupting traditional approaches and narratives to this subject. ” (    She also takes lots of cool pictures of abandoned buildings, which I definitely can relate to!  Well, the taking pictures of abandoned buildings part, maybe not the cool pictures part…

These are the moments I wish we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic, not so much because I could walk down to the local art gallery and see Quigley’s work, but that I could walk down to one of the local galleries and see ANYONE’S work.

  1. Rather depressing photos. I am not familiar with Belfast and it’s current politics but perhaps this is why she made these images?

  2. Ooh, I like these photos.

  3. Thank you Emily for this interesting information on Jill Quigley whom I didn’t know. Went onto the site you gave and I very much like her photos. I agree with you , looking forward to going back to exhibitions and museums. Photography I miss too, taking pictures of my growing garden and flowers, my village lanes and paths is ok for a while. Yesterday I went into Toulouse, the big town next to which where we live and couldn’t stop shooting buildings, churches, squares, parks, pedestrians … although I have masses of photographs already of the town centre as we have lived here for 25 years …. Do you like taking photographs where you live and on your travels ?
Congratulations on completing the A to Z. Visiting on the Road trip blog-hop.
    Take care, stay safe.
