A day cleaning up (finally) the backyard

A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/adrift/

I think our backyard is finally pretty much cleaned up.  Now, to get some flowers for our pots in front and back to brighten things up, and get some vegetables planted in the side raised beds.  It’s like summer arrived yesterday in all its glory!

Here are a few pictures from the backyard after we finished up yesterday.

Notice the stone birdbath – we moved that over from our rental house when we sold it earlier this year, and have finally put it in place in the yard.  We originally got this birdbath in Regina when we lived there, so it’s been with us a long time!

Also with us a long time is that stove we moved from the rental in January, and before that from Regina (it originally belonged to Kevin’s mom and dad).  Kevin had the brilliant idea to put a metal pot on top of it and fill it with water, so it is going to become another birdbath!

This stove we got on Used Victoria – and the tubs too!  I love the garden at this time of year!!

  1. I always love to see photos of your yard. It must be nice to go out there and see all the pretty growing plants/flowers. I see a couple of gnomes, too! I’m glad I can enlarge the photos, too, as so many blogs you can’t do that. 🙂

  2. What a beautiful garden you have, Emily!! I love it. <3 So glad for you.

  3. How exciting! I can’t wait to see it with all the beautiful plants in it!

  4. I envy your ‘green thumb’! My neighbor and granddaughter plant my flowers, and I am not allowed to do so much as water them, for if I get too close, they will die. I not only lack a green thumb, but I seem to be highly toxic to plants and flowers … 🙂

    • That’s me for indoor plants. If Kevin wants indoor plants, he has to take care of them ’cause I kill them all!!! Mwaaa ha ha ha ha…

      • Haha … many years ago, my mother-in-law gave me a plant and said, “you cannot kill this plant. It is hearty and will survive EVEN YOU.” Well, you can guess the outcome, right? 😀
