A few scenes from the week – and save Fraser’s Thimble Farms!!
A response in avoidance of the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/filter/
Finally, I don’t normally do this on my blog, but a local nursery (Fraser’s Thimble Farms on SaltSpring Island) is facing shutdown due to changes in SaltSpring’s water permitting. Fraser’s Thimble Farms has been on the island for probably 40+ years, and I can’t think of another nursery that works harder to be sustainable and environmentally conscientious. It would be a huge loss to gardeners, horticulturalists, and the island community and economy itself if they had to close because of this. Not to mention, it’s ridiculous to go after a thriving and conscientious business when there are huge, monstrous homes being built on the island that are not subject to these kinds of restrictions.
Anyway, you can find out more here, and maybe sign the petition? Or at least, find out more about our beloved nursery and it’s situation here: https://www.change.org/p/north-saltspring-waterworks-district-allow-fraser-s-thimble-farms-to-water-their-nursery?utm_source=embedded_petition_view
Thanks for listening 🙂

Great photos, Emily. I signed the petition. I hope they can keep watering as they need to. The water priority around here is whack, too. The grass farmers have dibs over the food farmers. Sure, because it is more important to have a landscaped yard than food in your belly. Oy! Have a blessed day!
Thanks! I hope it all works out for them. It’s hard to see conscientious businesses having to justify their existence when huge houses with huge estates that are watered all the time don’t have to follow any rules. Have a wonderful rest of your day 🙂
You’re welcome. I agree! It seems priorities are just messed up all over. I hope the rest of your day is wonderful, too. Mine is about to get a lot more relaxed. 😊
Signed and submitted. 😊
Thanks!!! 🙂
