A view from the deck…and a little Jasper

It rained yesterday. Well, at least for the morning. Which meant the deck was too wet to allow us to stain any of it later in the day. So, I spent the day reading a book, and Kevin did a little work and then went out to see some old friends who were playing at a weird little garage-club last night.
Before he went out, he BBQ’d some dinner and I took a couple of pictures from the deck of the clouds in the sunset. It’s setting earlier and earlier every day – noticeably.
Winter is coming!

I’m not a fan of winter, or the days getting dark so early that time of year. I’ve noticed it around here, too.
It always gets me by surprise…at least it’s still light after work…
It seems to be getting dark a little earlier here, too, but it is still very hot. When I went out to the car at about 4:30pm, it was reading 102 degrees on the car’s thermometer. I shudder to think what the heat index was, but it felt seriously like an oven when I opened the car door.
I wish the daylight would last longer, but that it would get way cooler here.

I sure hope it will here, too. When we left the house at about 9pm tonight, it was still in the mid-90s. I’m beginning to think it will never end.
