Let’s take a moment…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/think-global-act-local/

“Think global, act local.” Write a post connecting a global issue to a personal one.

Every day I try to remind myself that it only takes one day at a time, one deed at a time.  You can’t change the world on your own, but you can make a difference, and even a small difference counts.

And here is a little guy who completely agrees:

Un-Daily Post

I’m avoiding the Daily Post today.  I have a headache and feel like I’m catching a cold, so, this is it for today.  What I saw yesterday…that’s yesterday – February 18th.  Have I said how much I like living here??

This is my undoing

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/undo/

If you could un-invent something, what would it be? Discuss why, potential repercussions, or a possible alternative.

Un-invent, eh?  This implies that it was “invented” to begin with, which for me means a human being went out of their way to create something that they thought was cool.  I say this, because I am wondering if things like “war” or “poverty” or “The Republican Party” or the “Canadian Conservative Party under Steven Harper” could be un-invented.  They probably don’t count…sigh…how disappointing.

To cheer everyone up, here are some pictures I took this week:

Can we have a little clarity please?

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/five-a-day/

You’ve being exiled to a private island, and your captors will only supply you with five foods. What do you pick?

But why?  Why was I exiled?  Was it because I don’t play by the Daily Post prompts?  Was it because I am too smart for my own good?  And why 5 foods?  Not 4?  Not 6?  It’s a private island for crying out loud.  It’s not like these people lack for funds – islands don’t typically come cheap.  And when you say “foods”, what exactly do you mean?  You can’t mean just “ingredients”?  I mean, then that beer can chicken I showed you yesterday would be out, being as it contained more than 5 “foods”.  I don’t like the sound of that at all.

Nope.  Not playing today.  To many undefined terms.  Now, you must excuse me while I enjoy our “winter”.

Too much of a good thing?

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/clone-wars/

If you could clone yourself, how would you split up your responsibilities?

It’s one of those questions again:  “If you could X, blah, blah, blah”.  I think I mentioned before I don’t answer these kinds of questions.  Especially when the “If” part is something that can never happen.  Oh, stop with the “but use your imagination”.  Even if cloning people were to happen in my lifetime, I will never be rich enough to be cloned, because, let’s face it, it will cost big bucks to duplicate yourself.

Ok, I admit that I’m probably being too literal for the intent of the prompt.  The point is probably to see what things I have to do every day that I would prefer to delegate to a mere copy.  Like cleaning litter boxes and ironing.  But one does need to be careful.  Resentful clones all over the world are likely to rise up and take over.  Yes.  This prompt is both annoying and terrifying at the same time.

I do know one thing – my clone would not be the one chosen to eat this delicious beer “can” chicken from last night (sorry to all vegetarian followers…)

Title, no title…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/wall-to-wall/

What do you display on the walls of your home — photos, posters, artwork, nothing? How do you choose what to display? What mood are you trying to create?

Right now, not a lot.  Not because we have chosen to NOT hang pictures, or because we have a specific mood we want to create through the display of blank walls.  Nope.  It’s because we’re lazy.  We have boxes of pictures just waiting to be hung in our house – boxes that have been sitting in the house for 2 1/2 years.  We have hung, I think, 1 picture.  Well, a few more in the spare bedroom and the foyer, but that’s just because there were already nails in the walls.  It’s lucky the dining room has a picture rail – easy to put little pictures up without having to think too hard.

Too tired for sliced bread

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/sliced-bread/

Most of us have heard the saying, “That’s the best thing since sliced bread!” What do you think is actually the best thing since sliced bread?

Well, seeing as I’m not a big fan of pre-sliced bread (I prefer slicing it myself, including the gluten-free varieties I eat nowadays) most things fit the saying.  If I were to pick one thing that we have picked up recently that we think is pretty cool, I would pick our Soda Stream!  Nothing like fresh fizzy water, and no endless plastic bottles for recycling.  And, if you want a real treat, try 1/4 orange juice and 3/4 fizzy water.  Yum!!

Ok, that’s my post for today.  Apologies for not being inspired to wry, caustic humour today.  I was out all morning running errands (sold some olds CDS, bought meat and cheese with the spoils, gave away some things to Women in Needs, and hopped into the mall for a quick run around), and now I’m pooped!!  But, here is what I came home to, so now to relax for a bit!
