Guess I’ll never be rich…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/buffalo-nickel/

Dig through your couch cushions, your purse, or the floor of your car and look at the year printed on the first coin you find. What were you doing that year?

Oh, what the hell…

Couch cushions, eh?  How on earth would coins get into our couch cushions?  We have NEVER had coins in our couch cushions.  Is this like how socks get lost in the dryer?  Coins get lost in couch cushions?  Sorry…nope.

Next, my purse.  Now, let’s see.  When was the last time I had actual “money” (I would say “meaning non-plastic money”, but Canadian bills seem pretty plasticky to me these days) in my purse?  Can’t say as I remember.  Guess that’s a bust too.

The floor of my car.  Sorry.  I’m still in my bathrobe having my first cup of coffee (seeing as it’s another vacation day for Emily).  I’m not going to get dressed, go out into the rain (well, I guess technically it’s not raining now, although it will probably start again at any moment) and dig around on my car floor.  Nope.

I could make up a coin with a year on it, but let’s be real here.  Am I actually going to remember what I was doing that year (a year is, after all, a long time!)?    And would I really tell?

Ok, now that this prompt is done, here is something completely unrelated to coins, but currently out in the open (not hidden in couches, purses or cars) in front of our house.

First what?

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/first-light/

Remember when you wrote down the first thought you had this morning? Great. Now write a post about it.

Nope, I don’t remember that actually.

I remember many years ago I tried to remember to write down the first thought I had in the morning (I also tried writing down my dreams, but that didn’t go anywhere either), but the trick, I discovered, was trying to make sense of a first thought.  Or remembering any first thought that was not “God, where is my coffee!”

So, no.  I don’t remember that, so I guess I can write a post about anything I want!

Except that now all I can think about it coffee…so, time for cup #2!  And, yes, this is a picture you’ve seen before, but my coffee this morning looks the same.  I mean, why mess with a good thing?

I smell burnt toast…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/the-transporter/

Tell us about a sensation — a taste, a smell, a piece of music — that transports you back to childhood.

Man, these prompts!  I don’t think I am a “normal” person (which, I have to tell you, is perfectly fine with me).  I don’t have flashbacks to childhood.  To high-school, yes – I call those nightmares.  But, as usual, I can’t think of anything that “takes me back”.  Nope.  Nothing.

Well, I’m not going to sweat it.  I’m having a week off, and I’m going to get some work done around the house and yard – after another cup of coffee!  Jasper seems all for it too.

Take a quote from your favorite movie — there’s the title of your post. Now, write!

Oh come on – my favourite movie?  Nothing like a skill testing question on a holiday Monday morning.

Now, I have a lot of movies on my “favourite movies” list – I know I do, because every so often someone asks me about them.  And then I have to make something up so I don’t feel like an idiot NOT having a favourite movie on the tip of my tongue.  Favourite movies, favourite books, favourite TV shows, favourite symphony (ok, that’s easy…Shostakovich 10th).  You know how it is.  But, sorry.  Ask me what my favourite anything is, and I’ll more likely say “it depends” – on the day, on the season, on my mood, on my memory.

So, will I answer this question?  Why yes, I will!

Squirrel!

Yes – this WAS taken yesterday…

Silent Sunday: Today

February82015-Pink1

Oh come on, it’s Sunday….

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/proud/

When was the last time someone told you they were proud of you?

Just now.  Me.  It’s Sunday, and I was up before 11:00 am.  Hey, I think it’s important to be proud of one’s self!

And now, some unrelated photos…

Scale

In response to the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/scale/

This week, share an image that highlights a size relationship — make us pause and take a second look to understand the scale of the elements in your photo.

Ok, this is my first time posting to the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge, so I got a little excited.  Here are some pictures I thought were good for this Scale challenge, all taken during trips outside of North Vancouver with Kevin and friends, and then to Tofino with my friend Susan a few years back.  I took them all with my old beloved (and now sadly crushed by my falling self during a marathon training run) Sony Cybershot, except for the one with me in the shot.  I can’t remember which random tourist took that one…

Take a complicated subject you know more about than most people, and explain it to a friend who knows nothing about it at all.

Not Today…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/no-thanks/

Is there a place in the world you never want to visit? Where, and why not?

“Never”?  I never say “never”? (aside from when I say never say never…)

Now, if you’re talking about today, well I don’t want to go anywhere today.  I have the day off, and  I’m hanging out with these dudes today:

But if you’re lucky, I may do a second post today in between naps…

Rules Schmules…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/breaking-the-law/

Think about the last time you broke a rule (a big one, not just ripping the tags off your pillows). Were you burned, or did things turn out for the best?

Ok, let’s be clear – are we talking about “laws” or “rules”, because if we’re talking laws, I’m not going to talk about the last time I broke one…because I haven’t.  Nope.  Not me! Never!!

But rules?  “Big” rules?  Definitions please people.  What are these big rules of which you speak?

Does stopping to pose for pictures during a marathon count?
