Running for Bacon: Week 3
Week 3 of training added a bit of a twist. I started an 8-week bootcamp this week, 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). But I want to keep up the 4 day week running without doing more than 2 days in a row, which means I do have to run on one boot camp day. So, this week, and hopefully in subsequent weeks, I am choosing Monday as the double-up day. This means, however, that I will probably have to so short runs on Mondays, so I can squeeze a run in after work and before bootcamp. This means I need to plan my weeks a bit more carefully and strategically so I can fit everything into my weeks, along with work. So, next week when I’m back in the office working, we’ll see how all this is going to work out!
Monday, January 20 – a beautiful, sunny, non-windy day!
Tuesday, January 21
This was a hard one today. Must have been the passing effects from the first boot camp back on Monday evening. Hope Thursday is better! Guess the point is that I got out and did it!
Thursday, January 23
A better run, probably because I went slower today. But it was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed getting out into it!
Saturday, January 25
And finally, Saturday. A distance run – 5K again today. It was foggy and chillier than I thought it would be, but about halfway through I hit a good stride and felt fantastic! So, week 3 of Running for Bacon completed…and a good week it was overall!
A Word A Week Photo Challenge: Undulate
Another first challenge for me. I think I will have to start keeping track of all these fantastic challenges and create a schedule for myself first, so I don’t get completely carried away every day (I do have other things to do…right?), and second so I don’t get so overwhelmed by challenges that I stop posting altogether. Oh, and also because eventually people will get sick of posting after posting after posting on the same day from me.
Anyway, this one is from A Word a Week Photo Challenge, and the topic this week is “undulate” (http://suellewellyn2011.wordpress.com/2014/01/25/a-word-a-week-photograph-challenge-undulate-waveyripple/).
So, thinking about this, I kept thinking about this picture (probably pretty standard undulation…):
But then I thought, hey…these are kind of undulating too:
Weekly Photo Challenge: Juxtaposition
So, I’m feeling like challenges today, so here is my first posting (I think) for the Weekly Photo Challenge from The Daily Post (http://dailypost.wordpress.com/category/photo-challenges/). This week’s topic: Juxtaposition.
It’s moving quickly into spring in this part of the world, so here is a plant in a pot in my backyard, waiting patiently to be planted in the next month or so, which is moving from the grey of winter “death” into the green of spring life. Juxtaposition.
C is for Chair: Tuesday’s A to Z challenge: “C”
So, I have decided to delve into the Tuesday’s A-Z challenge (http://flickrcomments.wordpress.com/challenges-atoz/) This week, “C”. So, after a lot of thinking (I have a lot of pictures of cat, and clouds, and other things beginning with “C”), I remembered a picture I tool a few years ago when on holiday in Tofino, BC, Canada with one of my best friends. We were walking along one of the beaches in Tofino (if you haven’t been there, it is an amazing place to visit, and apparently the surfing capital of Canada, although we did not try our hand (feet?) at surfing while we were there, opting instead for relaxing strolls on the beaches and on the various nearby trails. Anyway, on one of our walks along the beach, we happened upon this:
I don’t know why this chair and table were there on the beach. There was no one nearby who looked like they had “ownership” of them, but they intrigued me, and continue to intrigue me almost 3 years later. Someday maybe I’ll write a story about them. Another challenge!
CY365: Thu, January 23, 2014
Today’s CY365 theme is “umbrellas”…good thing I don’t believe in bad luck! I now have to remember to put all of these back into the vehicles from which I removed them, or someone (probably me) will be VERY upset next time it rains and there is no umbrella in the car.
CY365: Tue, January 21, 2014
Today’s CY365 theme is “in a bowl”. So here is supper in a bowl-well the cut parts of supper before cooking.
Where is this going? Well, tonight it’s the base of some pea soup. So, in the bowl is garlic, onions and yellow pepper. In the background you see carrots and potatoes. There will also be ham, but I haven’t chopped that up yet.
It’s all cooking now, and the peas are getting softer. I think it’s going to be a nice comforting January evening supper!
