Running for Bacon: Week 3

Week 3 of training added a bit of a twist.  I started an 8-week bootcamp this week, 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).  But I want to keep up the 4 day week running without doing more than 2 days in a row, which means I do have to run on one boot camp day.  So, this week, and hopefully in subsequent weeks, I am choosing Monday as the double-up day.  This means, however, that I will probably have to so short runs on Mondays, so I can squeeze a run in after work and before bootcamp.  This means I need to plan my weeks a bit more carefully and strategically so I can fit everything into my weeks, along with work.  So, next week when I’m back in the office working, we’ll see how all this is going to work out!

Monday, January 20 – a beautiful, sunny, non-windy day!

Tuesday, January 21

This was a hard one today.  Must have been the passing effects from the first boot camp back on Monday evening.  Hope Thursday is better!  Guess the point is that I got out and did it!

Thursday, January 23

A better run, probably because I went slower today.  But it was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed getting out into it!

Saturday, January 25

And finally, Saturday.  A distance run – 5K again today.  It was foggy and chillier than I thought it would be, but about halfway through I hit a good stride and felt fantastic!  So, week 3 of Running for Bacon completed…and a good week it was overall!

  1. it’s just so great to read when someone keeps at their challenges and posts daily progress to spur readers on. Our treadmill won’t work unless we change the whole belt and pad (about $800), so now I just MAKE it go around by manual leg-pumping effort. I have never gotten a better bang for my buck than forcing a dead treadmill to go around through sheer determination. I’m going to have quads like no 68yr old I know, trust me.

    • Thanks! I didn’t do a very good job of following through with the posting of the challenge, but I did finish my first marathon last October, so at least I finished the training itself!! Thanks for visiting!
