I’ve revealed my theme (A poem a day…maybe even with pictures), and of course, I am unashamedly blogging my theme letters on the fly.  So, here goes nothing!

So, without further ado, I is for … I am the Chosen One.

The Chosen One

I stood proud.
An honour to be chosen
I said, donning cloak and boots
to face the wrath of winter’s storms

Out the door
I strode, head high, taking steps
two at a time
until I reached the road before me.

My dauntless steed
I mounted, settling in soft leather,
grabbed on and yelled “forth we go!”
We leapt past mounds of snow

towards the town lying silent
under stormy skies where
townspeople sheltered
by fires, waiting for sleep.

Anon I reached
my destination, breath hanging
in frosty air.
I paused, gazed upon the weathered door,

turned the knob and entered
not knowing what I would find;
my only hope
to reach my goal.

“I am here!” I cried
into the darkness.
She appeared,
looked me up and down

to take my measure.
“Finally,” she whispered.
“We’ve been waiting
too long.” Then another

gallant lad crept forth
my treasure in hand.
Success! I thought,
handing over gold,

taking box in hand.
“Thanks to ye!” I cried.
I returned to my steed,
stowed away my prize

to return home before
midnight rang out.
Thence everyone shared
my bounty hard won:
Half pepperoni, half mushroom onion.
