Just Jot it January, 2026: January 1
Your prompt for JusJoJan January 1, 2026, is Mindfulness.
I luckily was the first to comment on Linda’s request for prompts for this challenge, so today is my word: Mindfulness.
Many of us feel our minds bouncing from place to place, moment to moment, wondering what we could have done differently or what we need to be doing in five minutes. We often struggle with just being present in the moment because we feel the need to be doing “something.” Today I challenge you to sit (or stand), close your eyes (or just rest your gaze) and breathe to the count of ten. Just try it! Then tomorrow, try it again. Maybe counting to eleven… Or just find a place to sit and watch the world go by. Let me know how you do in the comments!

Being (and staying for a while) in the present is such a gift, and something most of us don’t do enough of. If I have one resolution for 2026, it will be practicing mindfulness!
Thanks so much again for the prompt, Emily!
Love it!
Thanks for the prompt, and a very good reminder, Emily.
You’re welcome!
Happy New Year Emily. Lovely post and thank you for today’s prompt.
You are very welcome! And Happy New Year!
Being still in mind and body is not easy for me. The closest I get to ‘being in the moment for the sake of the moment’ is when my cat(s) gets on my lap and goes to sleep, which is invariably when I have something I think just can’t wait to be done/accomplished. But I honor the universal rule that there’s no doing anything until the cat leaves. 😉
Cats can be great for those mindful breaks…
I’m grateful to have a life that allows me to just stop, in the moment, even when I look like I might be busy. Wonderful prompt!
Excellent!
Thanks for the prompt. A great one to start the new year with.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks Emily for this prompt
You’re welcome!
This would be a nice place to just gaze at the water and the boats going by, and dream the day away. 🙂
It is…it’s actually a cemetery…
