Blogging from A to Z Challenge: D is for… (#AtoZChallenge)
Welcome to my April 2024 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
I’ve revealed my theme (A poem a day…with picture), and of course, I am unashamedly blogging my theme letters on the fly. So, here goes nothing!
So, without further ado, D is for Dodoitsu. “The Dodoitsu is a fixed folk song form of Japanese origin and is often about love or humor. It has 26 syllables made of of four lines of 7, 7, 7, 5 syllables respectively. It is unrhymed and non-metrical.”
Ok, this is not about love or humour, but it does fit the syllabic form (it’s been a long week already…)
Forgotten
Waves of sorrow sink into
sewers. Amid detritus,
rats carry us into the
depths where our dreams die.

Thanks for visiting my 2024 A to Z Challenge – Letter D.
Guess I’m kind of going rogue too…although I do like using the “official” letters…

I like this one. I’d never heard of this form, and you explained it and did the poem just right. This photo fits really well, too. 🙂
Thanks – I am enjoying trying ll these new forms.
The word Dodoitsu is a fun one to say.
It is!
