Some more poetry

Something I submitted for a class this week – I will be doing some revising in the near future…

Too late.

After John Ashbery, A problem of anxiety

Fifty years have passed,
Isn’t that interesting?
The trees still rise and shed
The flowers bloom and die
The birds learn to fly and flap south
The deer graze aimlessly

Fifty years have passed,
Isn’t that disconcerting?
Cities crumble, decay into dust
Highways crack in heat and cold
Store fronts shuttered and empty
Sidewalks stretch into the horizon

Fifty years have passed,
Isn’t that what I told you?
If we didn’t care about each other
Didn’t listen and hear
If we didn’t cry on each other’s shoulders
Or learn from our mistakes

Fifty years have passed
Along with us
Into oblivion.

100 Day Challenge: Day 3

Here we are, day 3 of this challenge. Me posting a photo – i know, nothing special there. But with a bit of commentary attached to it.

Yeah, it’s been a day. At least this was how it started out…me and the kitties in the living room in the quiet of the early morning, me trying to meditate and write, and kitties chasing some kind of winged insect all over the living room and beyond. Oliver and Lucy are here in the process of going after it again. Nothing was knocked over during the frantic hunt, so that’s a win in my book!

100 Day Challenge: Day 2

Here we are, day 2 of this challenge. Me posting a photo – i know, nothing special there. But with a bit of commentary attached to it\

Not scotch, just ginger ale in front of the fire on the fire table. Not just any ginger ale, but made by a local brew pub, Spinnaker. Be careful when you drink it – it has a real strong ginger kick! Quite tasty. I am on day 19 of Dry February and very proud of myself that I have made it this far as there have been a few challenging days when I really felt like having a glass of wine. Not much longer now though…but in the meantime, I will enjoy a kick of the ginger!
