November Poem a Day (PAD) Challenge 2023: Day 30

Hi everyone.

This November I will be presenting to you a month of daily poems as memoir, little ditties to tell you about my day or my thoughts during the day, whatever.  Of course I hope you enjoy them, but it’s ok if you don’t.  Just move on to the next blog in your list.

The final day of this challenge, day thirty, is: “For today’s prompt, write a last night poem. Tonight is sort of the last night for poeming in November, but last night could also be referring to yesterday evening. Or maybe you’re referring to the last night of something far off in the future (or in the distant past). Only you know what last night means for you, but make sure you capture it in a poem.

Finally

Last night
I slept

Not breaking news
except

For when coughing
has kept you

Up night after
night

But

Last night
I slept

Until
just before the alarm

Coughing began again
an alarm

I won’t miss
