2020 Daily Writing Challenge: August 1

And now, from Jo Hawk, the 2020 Daily Writing Challenge, for August 1!

For my writing challenge, I am going to be working with daily prompts from the book “The Daily Writer: 365 Meditations to Cultivate a Productive and Meaningful Writing Life.”

So, today is:  Uses of Allegory – Compose an allegory, keeping in mind that each of your characters represents an abstract trait. Give your main character a goal she struggles against powerful obstacles to attain.

Hmmm…I’m not really good at this writing prompt thing, but this is why I’m doing this challenge.  I’ll probably keep it short for the first few and see how I do.

My allegory is a story of Ms. Mask and her fight against the nefarious triplets Complacency, Denial, and Hoax.  The divine Ms. M. dutifully protects others when she goes to the Den of Foodsuffs, or to the Place of Disease Fixing, or anyplace Hoards of People might hangout.  Listening diligently to Science Guru and to Doctor Pandemic Expert, she continues persistently even in the face of Mr. Ignore the Problem and Mrs. No One Can Tell Me What To Do.

I think I have to work on this…  Anyway, that’s what I got for today!  Stay tuned for tomorrow’s adventure.
