June Writing Prompts, Day 6 – Pillars of the past
From Putting My Feet in the Dirt, June’s Writing prompts.
Today, “Pillars of the past”.
Pillars of the past used to hold up reality, the old normal. Going to concerts, walking into stores without masks or the fear of walking the wrong way down a one-way aisle. Like crumbling relics of ancient times, those pillars remain, ghostly in the backs of our minds, and sometimes we imagine they are still there, tall and strong. But we must bury the past and rebuild in a new image, still yet to be imagined.
(This is a picture of one pillar of my past, my office at work which I will likely not see again until 2021…)

My galpals from work still keep me in the loop. They were told to retrieve all their personal items from work. Looks like home is their new office….for quite a while, anyway. They are happy.
I’m ok with it – every once and awhile I think about going in to retrieve more stuff, but I think I can do without for now. I just miss the face to face interactions – the informal stuff. Everything feels so formal these days.
