Blogging from A to Z Challenge: W is for…Margaret Watkins (#AtoZChallenge)
Welcome to my April 2020 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
Margaret Watkins (1884–1969) was a Canadian photographer who was “a photographer of portraits and landscapes, still lifes, street scenes and works of early advertising and commercial designs. ” (https://www.gallery.ca/collection/artist/margaret-watkins). “She lived a life of rebellion, rejection of tradition, and individual heroism; she never married, she was a successful career woman in a time when women stayed at home, and she exhibited eroticism and feminism in her art and writing.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Watkins)
I love the photos I have seen of hers – her most famous image is The Kitchen Sink, literally just that. Reminds you that anything is fair game in photography – which is great, given that for the past month or two, photography at home has become all the rage! And now, here are a couple of her works in the public domain:

A Caturday for Kevin (and also the last on in April…what??)
Yes indeed – I’ve missed a few of these in the past few weeks. But for Kevin and you all, here is your last Caturday in May!
Blogging from A to Z Challenge: V is for…Homai Vyarawalla (#AtoZChallenge)
Welcome to my April 2020 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
Homai Vyarawalla (1913-2012) was India’s first female photojournalist. She “broke social barriers as her country’s first female professional photographer, capturing black-and-white images that examined India’s history from its struggle for independence from Britain in the 1940s until her abrupt retirement in 1970 soon after the death of her husband (Maneckshaw Vyarawalla).” (https://www.britannica.com/biography/Homai-Vyarawalla)
Her photos range from intimate portraits to sweeping views of pivotal events. There are many, many sites for you to explore – the resources I present here are only a handful, so I encourage you to look for more.
Here is one of her photos in the public domain:
