Just Jot it January, 2019: January 22

“Your prompt for JusJoJan 2019, January 22nd is brought to you by Pamela! Click here to find her last post and say hi while you’re there! Pamela’s word for our prompt today is “curiosity.” Use it anywhere in your post or make it the theme of your post. Have fun!” (https://lindaghill.com/2019/01/22/jusjojan-2019-daily-prompt-jan-22nd/)  These Jots are not only my 500-words a day challenge, but also part of my  Ultimate Blogging Challenge challenge (http://ultimateblogchallenge.com)

I think I am a curious person.  Not snoopy, I hope (usually), but curious about trying new things (except slimy food).  I do, however, get tired of people telling me to be “curious” when referring to dealing with people and conflict when it feels more like a cop-out – you know, we don’t want to deal with the conflict, and want you to suck it up, so we are going to tell you to be curious about the situation instead.  I don’t need curiousity to know that some people are just a$$holes.

Yesterday I was curious to see if I could take a picture of flying birds, and I think I did ok (next time, a faster shutter speed…)

  1. Some people have reactions so out of proportion to their situations, I do get curious.
I would NOT enjoy being told that’s how to handle people at their worst. Expressing that curiosity wouldn’t go well, either.
“Mr Green, you seem to be in the midst of some existential crisis. What’s really goin on here?” Nope, not something I’d say in the course of my duties. Lawd, he might would tell me.

  2. I don’t like snoopy people who pretend to be curious: “So….I see you are taking a day off on Thursday. Strange day to take off. Whatcha got going on?” People at work know I don’t do curious. Correct thing to say: “Enjoy your Thursday off!” Yup. Good picture of the birds. How’d you take that photo, Emily? hahahah!!

  3. I think that is a lovely photograph!
