After a long day at work, and feeling not so great (but definitely on the mend) I am going to keep this post short and sweet. Some more broken-down subjects I like to take pictures of. And there are a lot of these across Saskatchewan. Abandoned buildings. What stories they could tell!
NaNoPoblano 2017 – Day 2 (November 2)

When I was back in Saskatchewan (with a side trip to Alberta) in September, on that photography workshop and travel-around-to-take-pictures excursion with my friend Susan (which sadly I failed to finish blogging about, as I seem to do with all my vacation blogging), I discovered what I really like taking pictures of. Not landscapes, or people (I never take pictures of people). But (well besides kittens and flowers – I do like taking pictures of them…don’t know if you noticed) I really like taking pictures of broken, rusty, somewhat less than perfect looking things.
Some people call this wabi sabi, which is the art of imperfection, impermanence, and the natural (http://www.discoverdigitalphotography.com/2016/wabi-sabi-photography-the-art-of-the-imperfect/). And lots of photographers seem to also be into wabi sabi in some way. Guess I am too.
Anyway, here are a few of the things I like taking pictures of – I took all of these on my Saskatchewan/Alberta trip. These are from what I am now calling my Rusty collection. I’ll show you some from other kinds of collections (yet to be named) in the next few posts. And then I will pull out the big girl camera once again and take some fresh photos to really begin to explore my affinity for the imperfect.

As I sit in my living room, laying back on the couch in front of the fire trying not to cough my lungs out, I am finding the strength to give you a Kitten Thursday.
NaNoPoblano 2017 – Day 1 (November 1)
Go NaNoPoblano (National Blog Posting Month) (https://anitashree.com/2017/10/12/its-approaching-that-time-again/ ! I believe this is year three of me participating in this November challenge, so here we go with Post #1.
So, I was wondering what to blog about for this November’s challenge, and I have decided that I will blog new pictures using the big girl camera, and a bit of writing every day. I’ve been trying to kick start these habits for awhile now and I don’t know if I will be able to keep it up, but here’s hoping! But, for post number one, I will already break out of my so-called theme and present…well, read on!
So as I sit here at home today, sicker than a dog, hacking and sneezing my way through a box of kleenex and hoping I feel better tomorrow, I want to celebrate my friend Judy who is throwing a premiere party tonight for the Great Canadian Baking Show which she is participating in. It’s all very exciting! And you can read more about it here:
Now, if you have Canadian TV, tune in tonight for Episode One on CBC! Judy, I wish I could be there to celebrate with you, but trust me – you and your guests are much better off without me there. Oh, and BTW, Judy is the inspiration behind Zombie Flamingos, having created the original (in my banner). And she cooked up some zombie flamingo magic for me for tonight which I will, very sadly, be missing. Thanks Jude!!
Judy (via personal secretary Gord) notes that the zombie flamingo creations are hers, but the cupcake is a gluten free creation from Origin Bakery.
