52 Weeks Photo Challenge: Week 36
A challenge from That Girl that Dreams Awake (https://thegirlthatdreamsawake.wordpress.com/) – a 52-week challenge, and this week’s topic is Simple Things. (https://thegirlthatdreamsawake.wordpress.com/2017/05/29/52-weeks-photo-challenge-week-36-simple-things/)
I don’t know why, but this picture struck me as I looked for simple things…

Are those headstones?
Yes…yes they are.
They’re so spread apart, I couldn’t really tell.
It’s an old Chinese cemetery that’s been closed for quite some time. Originally it was set up to hold on to bones until they would be shipped back to China, but eventually that stopped happening, and this is what’s left!
That’s pretty wild. I thought it was a cemetery when I first saw it, but it looked sparse. Interesting story.
Cemeteries….representing something simple, yet so complicated. I love to photograph cemeteries, especially the angel statuary. You can’t help but wonder about the people whose lives and stories have been summarized with just two dates and a dash on a rock.
With those markers so far apart, it makes me wonder how many folks are there with unmarked graves. Is this an old cemetery or a new one? This is a nice, serene photo.
Have a blessed night. 🙂
I photograph cemeteries, too (and lots of statuary), especially as a volunteer photographer for http://www.findagrave.com
I love walking through cemeteries and taking pictures!!
Cool! I have done volunteer work for Find a Grave, too. It is very rewarding to be able to do these photographs for people.
Have a blessed day. 🙂
It’s an old Chinese cemetery that’s been closed for awhile. You can read about it here: https://www.oldcem.bc.ca/cem_ch.htm. It’s very restful!
Thanks for the link. I’ll check it out!
Have a blessed day. 🙂
That was rather an interesting practice they had of exhuming the bones after seven years, then sending them back to China for burial. I wonder why seven years over any other number of years?
Thank you again for sharing the link. I always learn something new when I visit your blog. 🙂
Have a blessed day.
Very beautiful 😊thanks for joining in 🙂
Thank-you!!
