September 19-Somethin’ Challenge – September 8

This is Suzanne’s challenge at https://mcclendonvilla.wordpress.com/september-19-somethin-challenge/ , and according to her “This challenge is prompted by the song 19-Somethin’ by Mark Wills. You can hear the song here: https://youtu.be/UhSCeItgUEc   The following questions are taken from the various lines in the song.  There are also a few random questions thrown into the mix to make it a post a day for the month – 30 posts.”

The September 8th question is: What celebrity death upset you the most when you were young?

I wracked my brains all day yesterday (in between meetings and consults and workshops and kickboxing class) and couldn’t really think of anyone who upset me when I was young.  When I was older (but younger than I am now), I remember clearly being very saddened when Stevie Ray Vaughan died.  Now there was a loss to the musical world!

  1. We listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan’s music a lot around here. Great musician.

  2. When I was young, my cousin and I went to concerts all the time. He’s 6 years older, so my parents let me go with him. I was maybe in high school when I told him we should see Stevie Ray Vaughn in concert, and found out the horrible news. Oops.

  3. I don’t think that I’ve heard of this singer before. I’ll see about playing the video once I get caught up.

The celebrity death that has impacted me the most as an adult, I think, is Prince. His music, the Purple Rain album specifically, but other songs, too, were the soundtrack to various parts of mine and David’s life together. He was about 7 years older than me, 4 years older than David. It just hit too close to home, one of those mortality checks. It makes one realize just how suddenly one’s own music can stop.

Thanks for joining in the challenge. Have a great weekend!
