I grew up a musician. My mom played the flute in the symphony (and taught flute), my dad played bassoon and was a composer (and taught Music at the University) and I grew up playing the piano, the flute, and singing. My first degree is in Music, performance, in string bass and for many years I played in orchestras and jazz groups. I haven’t played in a long time now and there are days I really miss it. I may not play any more, but I will always be a musician.
I finally sold my bass last year, and here are some remembrances of it:
No, this isn’t my bass, but it’s a bass pillow and a kitty!

Lovely to read your post about your musical family. Do you think you’ll ever take up playing a musical instrument or singing again? It must have been great fun being in a band and I bet you’ve some great memories about it?
Thanks! I’ve thought about singing again, but haven’t taken the leap. Maybe someday…I really miss playing in my bands sometimes, and do have some great memories. I should write them down – wonder where I could do that 🙂
Exactly. I wonder where? 😄 I hope you do get to sing and play music again. Many people have commented that both can make the person performing them happy.
Me too – it always made for a happier day!
How awesome that you are a musician! Now I understand why you go to musical events so much! It’s a “going home” for you. 🙂 It’s comfort food for your musician’s heart.
It is indeed 🙂
