A to Z Challenge: P is for Perspective
Welcome to today’s post for the great Blogging A to Z Challenge!
Today is P is for Perspective.
“Perspective refers to the relationship of imaged objects in a photograph.” http://photoinf.com/General/NAVY/Perspective.htm. This article discusses different kinds of perspective, like:
- Linear perspective: everything in a straight line getting smaller as they move into the distance
- Vanishing Point perspective: parallel lines moving back into infinity
- Overlap perspective: when objects in a scene overlap each other, you get a sense of depth
This article, http://digital-photography-school.com/perspective-photography-dont-just-stand-move-feet/, tells you, as the photographer, to get down, get up, look up, look down, mix it up. And most of all, have some fun with it!
Here are some pictures I’ve taken over the years where I’ve actually thought about perspective…

Great shots! In my opinion, perspective is the most important factor in composition. Good tips and info. 😃
Stuff I keep trying to remember!!
😃
I do like the perspective from looking up. And, somehow, I always forget to do that!
Me too!
I especially love the first one, in the hallway. I love getting down low or up high and taking pictures from different perspectives. It adds such interest to the photos.

It does! I especially like taking the stairs pictures and trying to make it look like it could be looking up or looking down 🙂
I love the tree branch photo!! Really cool 🙂
I thought it was cool – once I remembered to look up!
Great studies on perspective! The tree one took my breath away.
Nothing like really tall trees and remembering to look up!
LOL My daughter insisted I take a picture like that earlier today. 🙂
