A to Z Challenge: C is for Close-Up

Welcome to today’s post for the great Blogging A to Z Challenge!

Today is C.  And C is for Close-Up.  I know.  So far all my posts have had something to do with close-ups.  Aperture, Bokeh.  But this is really close up.  Well, at least as close up as I can get with my lens and the focus working together.  I don’t have a macro lens on my camera right now.  It’s just a basic lens.  18-55mm is what is says.  I don’t know what that means.  That will be L.  Spoiler alert…

Here’s a good article on getting started with close-up photography:  http://digital-photography-school.com/getting-started-guide-to-macro-or-close-up-photography/   There isn’t much to say here about close-ups.  Just get close!  And be patient (the mantra for all photography it seems).

Today was a good day for taking close-ups, as it wasn’t windy.  The frustrating thing was getting so close I couldn’t focus.  That was a lens thing.  I am not ready for a macro lens yet though – I need to get used to what I have first!  And once I have figured out exposure (E), I’ll try some exposure settings with the close ups to see what happens.  At least, that’s what the article says to try!

So, here are some attempts at getting up close and personal with some things in our backyard.

  3. Beautiful pictures. The yellow flower is my favorite one! And is that lichen? The fourth one from the bottom looks really cool.

  4. My secret to getting close ups of nature is to put my Auto settings to Nature Macro. 😀

  5. Oh they turned out nice! You have a good eye. 🙂

I don’t think our camera has a macro lens either, although I wouldn’t know personally as I’ve never even touched the thing. It was always more my husband’s toy, but he’s often encouraged me to play.

    I’m enjoying your series. 🙂

  6. Nice one .
