Tell us about a time things came this close to working out… but didn’t. What happened next? Would you like the chance to try again, or are you happy with how things eventually worked out?
I did not go for a walk yesterday – just didn’t work out. Everything ran late in the morning with mom and dad (for dad’s appointment), so I got to work late and was also feeling pretty exhausted because of getting up at 4:00 am. AND it was raining. So, no walk – close, but no cigar (someday I’ll look up where this expression comes from). But, I’ll walk today, pending rain, perhaps in a new direction…
Did you like that way I bent today’s prompt to my will (and already composed post)?
Anyway, no walk, but here are some things I saw going on in my back yard yesterday after work (sorry, no bees yet – the cocoons are all still safely unhatched – and no hummers yet…)
In addition to tulips coming up everywhere (when they bloom, are there going to be pics!), here are some hostas returning:
Our cherry trees (Rainier cherries) are just blooming now
Don’t know exactly what this is, but it’s coming up, and it’s NOT a weed!
And here is a cool-looking hellebore leaf.
It’s getting exciting back there!

‘Close, but no cigar’ originates from early 20th Century US State Fairs, when winners of games of skill (like pounding a lever with a sledgehammer and having it result in ringing the bell at the top) would earn the winner a cigar. Because these games were often rigged, or almost impossible to achieve, the carnival guy would say, ‘Sorry–close, but no cigar’.

SO exciting. I am always afraid when I plant things that they will never actually come up, or won’t come back again the next year. So THIS year, with everything either newly planted last month or last summer/fall is VERY exciting. So many plans for moving forward too!! Our own little backyard oasis (and eventually front yard too…) Hope you’re having a good day!
I would be if I could understand whether or not a script I REALLY want to have running has installed itself … Sighh … I am so bloody non-technical. 🙁
