Ick
In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/embrace-the-ick/
Think of something that truly repulses you. Hold that thought until your skin squirms. Now, write a glowing puff piece about its amazing merits.
Repulses me, eh? The person who watches The Walking Dead while eating her supper (dinner, whatever)? Ok. Well, I don’t particularly like spiders. Or raisins. Or FOX “News”. (I don’t have a picture of any of them – surprisingly enough).
I think, however, repulse is too strong a word for my feelings about these things. I can’t really say any of these repulses me, I just don’t like being in the same room with them. Yes, even raisins. I mean, really…what monster thought carrot cake and cinnamon buns had to have raisins in them??
But, I know there are many merits to spiders and raisins – I would list them here, but you can look them up. That’s why we have the Internet. No merits to Fox “News” though. Oh, wait! They are great fodder for Jon Stewart every day. Let that be the lesson here. There are merits to all things that make skin squirm if you think hard enough!
Was this a puffy enough piece? Here is a picture of a kitty to make it all better.
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: My Favorite Things, Verse Two
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels, Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles, Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings, These are a few of my favorite things.
Ok, this was a hard one, but here is my take…using pictures I took at various points in the past few years…
Well, not really that cream-coloured, but it is a pony! And no streudels – I can’t eat them anyway. Same goes for the schnitzel and noodles.
I have a doorbell, but alas, no sleighbells…
And no geese, but I do have moons!

The muddy gardens in our backyard
In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/free-association/
Write down the first words that comes to mind when we say . . .. . . home.. . . soil.. . . rain. Use those words in the title of your post.
Ok. A prompt that makes me think first thing in the morning (before 6:00 am) before I’ve finished my first coffee. You know the mind is fuzzy when you have to think about the first words that come to it. Of course, the first words that came to mind were the words themselves (home, soil, rain), but then I thought, no. It’s supposed to be other words. Ok then. Soil – well, it’s really muddy outside in the yard (which belongs to “home”) because it’s been raining a lot (ah…rain!), being January in Victoria. So, I guess that’s the first thing that came to mind after a bit of mind-de-fuzzing.
I started this post before 6:00 am this morning, but won’t finish it until after work when I can take a quick picture of the yard (too dark now, being January in Victoria). One of my posts wouldn’t be postable without a pic.
And now, here we go – it’s the end of the day and it’s dark again, but I managed to remember to snap this before the light completely disappeared.
Enough already!
In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/enough-is-enough/
When was the last time you were ready to throw in the proverbial towel? Did you end up letting go, or decided to fight on anyway?
Hmm…I can definitely think of times I said “Enough is enough”! When we lived in Regina, in March, when it kept snowing and dropping to -40 (celcius).
When I was training for the marathon last year and had to go on really really long runs on Saturday mornings.
When I was (and still am) prepping the main floor hallway to paint (will the prep never end???)
Before priming (but after already prepping for hours and hours)
After “final” prepping and priming
Didn’t throw in the towel for the weather (still went to work, idiot that I am) or for the marathon (I finished – the evidence is below showing me and my running bud Heather with our medals!!), am thinking about it for the hallway (let’s just paint it, dammit!).
I know I have thrown in the towel for other life events, but I’m not going to talk about them now. I’m just going to go have another cup of coffee and get on with Sunday!
A Tale of Rejoicing
In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/once-upon-a-time/
Tell us about something that happened to you in real life last week — but write it in the style of a fairy tale.
Sorry, I’m not very good at following too much direction. but here goes.
Once upon a time, gas prices were over one dollar – per litre, in Canada. One day they went below a dollar (still kind of obscene…), and the people rejoiced!
That is all.
ABC Wednesday (round 16): B is for…
…Beaches in Tofino
Some photos from 2011 when my best bud Susan (from Regina) and I took our road trip up island (Vancouver Island, that is) to Tofino, the surf capital of Canada (http://www.tofino-bc.com/). Beautiful!
