Share Your World – 2014 Week 25

It’s been awhile since I’ve entered this challenge, but it’s “anything can happen Saturday” (well, it is today…) and this is the challenge I am choosing to enter!

What is your favorite type of dog?  (can be anything from a specific breed, a stuffed animal, drawing, cartoon or character in a movie or TV show)

Well, anyone who has seen my blog knows I’m (and Kevin as well) am a cat person.  If I WERE to have a dog, however, it would have to be big.  Not to insult anyone, but for me, any dog that can fit in a purse (and consequently, that can be beaten up by my cats) isn’t really a dog.  Just my opinion!

Name one thing not many people know about you.

This is tough, because it depends on which people we are talking about.  Many people where I live and work now do not know I started University as a pre-veterinary student, but ended up with a BFA in Music on the string bass.  I played bass in orchestras and jazz bands for years before moving out to Victoria.  I don’t play any more, and am doing something totally unrelated to any of my education (I also have a MA in Linguistics), but that’s life!

bass7 (my bass – had to have ONE pic!)

Have you ever gone scuba diving?  If you haven’t, would you want to?

Never gone, but I would try scuba diving before ski diving!  And I can learn how to scuba dive right down the street from my house, so some day….

What was the most important event in your life last week? (anything goes it can be a good nights sleep, finished a reading book, winning the lottery, or getting married)

Hmmm…the most important event in my life last week… Last week was tough because I was off sick for a couple of days.  At work, the most “important” thing was finishing up the workshops we run intensely for May and June.  And we actually ran a lot of additional workshops in April as well due to upgrading our learning management system.  I have been in my job  months, but was basically put in charge of planning, preparing and running all the workshops.  It was exhausting, but SO much fun.  But finishing the last one, and knowing I would now be on holidays for 3 weeks was a pretty good feeling.  At home, the most important thing to me was hearing that my best friend back home (in Regina) had her intense spinal surgery on Tuesday and got through it and, while things are rough on and off as she recovers, is finally (after months) able to feel her feet, and is walking already.  Now, she was able to walk before her surgery, but it’s very good news that she is still able to now!  So, while things will be slow going for her, I am VERY relieved she is going to be ok!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Grateful?  Just my friend getting through her surgery.  And looking forward to in the next week?  Being on vacation, and taking the first extended, non-Christmas vacation (a road-trip to Saskatchewan) with my hubby in 19 years.  It’s a big deal.  We have a house-sitter looking after the kitties, and are driving to Saskatchewan for a wedding, and then I can see my friend who just had surgery while we’re there!  So, definitely looking forward to that!!

Well, that was fun!  I will definitely be doing THIS challenge again!

  1. I had to chuckle at your dog answer! People would consider us more cat people since we have seven of them and only two dogs at the moment. But I suppose I’m one of those odd ones who love them both! I’ve had big dogs (Danes) and little ones, and it’s the little ones who seem to be better able to hold their own with the cats! 😆

  2. Thanks so much for sharing. You can never be late to SYW. 🙂
