A is for…

…April!

A

Well, it is. And what an April it will be. I hope. We’ll see. Embarking on the Blogging from A to Z challenge, with not much of a plan at the moment. But, the thought is to blog about my running as I ramp up my training for my first marathon in October, and the days in between. One thing you will learn about me is that I cannot blog without adding a picture. I think a picture is a crutch for me in a strange sort of way. Words are harder, in that I feel safer posting a picture. People seem to like them. But words – words are harder. There are so many amazing bloggers out there who use words so well, I feel like I have a lot to live up to. But, that’s what makes a challenge like this good for me. It’s going to push me out of my comfort zone, but let me post my own thoughts and ideas. No prompts for me this time! Just the letters of our alphabet.

So, yes, A is for April. And this beautiful sunny April day was a training day, I ran 6 kilometres, running down along the water. What a gorgeous day! Sunny, a bit breezy but not too windy, and just the perfect temperature. I was not the only one who thought so: there were many people out walking, running, reading, sitting….enjoying what April has given us on its first day.

And here is the April view I saw today on my run:

It reminded me of views of April past

I didn’t take a lot of outdoor pictures when I lived in Regina (Saskatchewan). I never ran outdoors before June either. I love it here!

So, that is my first day “A”. April. It may take me a few letters to get the hang of this, but I’ll figure it out!

  1. The sea, the sea !!! – how beautiful it is, Emily …
And I’m really happy for you that your stretching your abilities: you need to find faith in them all !
    I have spoken.

  2. I think pictures bring blogs to life. I should really take more original pictures to add to my own blog. Good luck with the A to Z Challenge by the way.

  3. Oh, I’m so glad you’re doing A-Z! And as for photos, I’m glad I have an official photo blog… ;). I’m not much for writing more than a short post. I’m looking forward to your rest of the month!

  4. Beautiful post for April! These are gorgeous photos!

  5. Pictures do add a lot to blogs, but words are useful, too. Best of luck in your marathon training. I’m not sure where you’re at in your skill level or comfort with running, but a marathon is more about not giving up, balancing walking and running (unless you’re an elite runner, which I never was). At 18-20 miles, you’ll wonder why you ever decided to do it. Immediately after finishing, you’ll wonder who would ever do another one. Twenty minutes later, you start thinking about your next one.

    • Hi! This will be my first marathon, although I have been running for years and have completed several half marathons, 10Ks, etc. I am definitely doing this just to finish! I have no illusions of winning, placing, or anything. I’m slow, walk a lot, and like to stop for photo ops. But it’s a fun goal to go for, and the marathon is here in Victoria, and the start line is 2 blocks from my house. So how could I not? Thanks for visiting!! I’ll be visiting your blog now…

  6. Oh man what an April you have coming! I love the pictures by the way! I’m pretty excited, too! Get to do some gardening soon, doing the A to Z Challenge, too, and my freelance art and writing work. Busy busy!
