30 Day of Composition. August 6: Leading Lines
Here is today’s post for Emma David Camera Club, remembering that August is all about the 30 Days of Composition.
Every day is a new theme, but I am also challenging myself with an overall theme for the month, Around the House (and Yard), and some weekly sub-themes, this week’s being Black and White.
So, today the theme is Leading lines: “Try using implied (or actual) lines in the frame to lead your viewer up to your subject.”
The sub-text for today is to learn how to use Lightroom better!

30 Day of Composition. August 5: Rule of Thirds
Here is today’s post for Emma David Camera Club, remembering that August is all about the 30 Days of Composition.
Every day is a new theme, but I am also challenging myself with an overall theme for the month, Around the House (and Yard), and some weekly sub-themes, this week’s being Black and White.
So, today the theme is Rule of thirds: “If you divide your frame into 3, vertically and horizontally, and then place your subject on one of those lines, you create an asymmetric image that is aesthetically pleasing – more pleasing than if you put your subject in the middle. (Most of the time…)”

30 Day of Composition. August 4: Diagonals
Here is today’s post for Emma David Camera Club, remembering that August is all about the 30 Days of Composition.
Every day is a new theme, but I am also challenging myself with an overall theme for the month, Around the House (and Yard), and some weekly sub-themes, this week’s being Black and White.
So, today the theme is Diagonals: “Strong diagonal elements in the frame can make a dynamic composition and create a feeling of movement through the frame.”
I like diagonals in wood grain…

30 Day of Composition. August 3: Negative Space
Here is today’s post for Emma David Camera Club, remembering that August is all about the 30 Days of Composition.
Every day is a new theme, but I am also challenging myself with an overall theme for the month, Around the House (and Yard), and some weekly sub-themes, this week’s being Black and White.
So, today the theme is Negative space: “The area between elements in your image (often between subject and background) is called negative space, or white space, and it is just as important as the subject itself. It has a shape, and adds to the emotional impact of your shot.”

30 Day of Composition. August 2: Framing
Here is today’s post for Emma David Camera Club, remembering that August is all about the 30 Days of Composition.
Every day is a new theme, but I am also challenging myself with an overall theme for the month, Around the House (and Yard), and some weekly sub-themes, this week’s being Black and White.
So, today the theme is Framing: “what can you find in the shot to frame your subject?”
Ok, framing is easy in my head, and not so easy when I try to find it around the house. Well, here is my feeble attempt for today:

30 Day of Composition. August 1: Viewpoint
Today begins a new photography challenge from the Emma David Camera Club. August is all about the 30 Days of Composition.
Every day is a new theme, but I am also challenging myself with an overall theme for the month, Around the House (and Yard), and some weekly sub-themes, this week’s being Black and White.
So, today the theme is Viewpoint “adult head height is not the only place to take a photograph from. Where can you put your camera and how can you angle it, to create a more interesting image?”
