Tuesday Tales

I’m back with Tuesday Tales.  I am taking some writing classes right now, so thought I would share some of that work with y’all. Another poem for you.

There is No Silence When You Listen for It

I sit on the deck
listening
to the silence.

Bamboo and vine tendrils rustle
in the light evening breeze;

two houses down, crows caw
in a tall pine where earlier, ravens
warned of the times in which we live.

I wonder if crows and ravens ever

meet to exchange pleasantries and portents.

I close my eyes, immersed

in distant roars of cars,
harbour planes, boats
motoring, rushing people
across cities and oceans.

A hummingbird buzz startles
open my eyes, in search of supper.
I rise to comply as it scurries away.
