Blogging from A to Z Challenge: E is for…Rena Effendi (#AtoZChallenge)

Welcome to my April 2020 Great and Powerful Blogging from A to Z Challenge!

Rena Effendi is a social documentary photographer from Azerbaijan.  According to National Geographic, “Rena Effendi uses her camera to document people and cultures, as well as issues of conflict, environment, and social justice. Effendi was born in Azerbaijan and witnessed her country’s rough path to independence from the U.S.S.R., a place she learned to make sense of through photography.” (https://www.nationalgeographic.com/contributors/e/photographer-rena-effendi/)

Effendi’s photos tell stories – I can’t think of a better way to describe them.  The vibrant colours, the lighting, the faces and locations leave a sense of a moment in time, a way of life that may not exist any longer.  I would love to see her work in person some day.

Effendi is active on Instagram, so you can follow her at @renaeffendiphoto.

  1. I do like her style.

  2. I can see National Geographic’s influence on her, and probably vice versa as well.

  3. Thanks for telling us about this wonderful photographer.
