Another hypothetical…sigh…

In response to the Daily Post’s Writing Prompt https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/circle-of-five/

A writer once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” If this is true, which five people would you like to spend your time with?

Watch out –  it’s one of those hypothetical questions again.   Aside from wanting to know which writer said this, and upon what scientific evidence she/he based this premise on, my fundamental problem with this question is that it implies I am suppose to pick five people I don’t already spend time with – the “ideal” five.  And yes, I could pick five people I think of as “inspiring”, but if they are people I don’t actually KNOW, how do I know I would actually end up wanting to spend any time with them?  Just because someone looks good on paper (or in the news) doesn’t mean they are someone I would want to give up parts of my day for.  Do I want to end up being the average of five people I can’t stand to be around on a regular basis?

Maybe I should just assume that these “five people” could include our cats.   I wouldn’t mind being able to be more like them.

Now, here are some pretty flowers I shot yesterday.

  1. i agree with you when you say that picking 5 people whom we don’t really know is kind of difficult, hypothetically though we may pick people like whom we may aspire to be!!
